Re: The drought of '09

oh what a weird summer we have had! Three hail storms, rain, slugs, and the tomatoes aren't turning red! We've only had two or three days over 90 degrees. Glad you got some rain Chris!

Re: My heart has sunk

no, Scott, I haven't been there but have been wanting to, maybe we'll take our relatives there. I've heard we might get more severe storms this weekend, ugh!

Re: My heart has sunk

thanks, Diana, but the problem is my relatives arrive June 19! I don't think that's enough time for my hostas to grow again if I cut off all the leaves. I think I'm just stuck with hole-y hostas.

Re: My heart has sunk

ok Scott - we'll have salad this weekend! My hostas had never looked prettier since we've had such a much cooler spring than normal, and that makes it worse. My mother in law hadn't been to our house since we moved here in 2003 and I so wanted my hostas to look pretty for her. But instead she'll see...

Re: My heart has sunk

hi, Scott, if it's any consolation, we've had hail twice this week, on Sunday afternoon and on Tuesday. My hostas had never looked better, since it's been so cool, but now they all have holes and I'm discouraged just like you are. We are having so many relatives visit this summer, I had been so hope...

Hi, Carol, I lived in Grand Forks for two years, 1975-1977. My ex was in the military, and my son was born there. and I finished my college degree at the Univ of North Dakota. I remember how nice and friendly everyone was in North Dakota. But the winters were something else! Having grown up in south...

Yes, I think everyone is anxiously awaiting spring! Our tulips and daffodils are coming up, but I know winter isn't over yet. And my Cherry Berry that I had in a pot in the garage is emerging. Yea!

Boy, Chris, what a year!   I'm so grateful you keep us informed, I don't know what we would do otherwise! I got an El Nino from Ebay last year, but it looks fine, will keep an eye on it.
