Re: I need to move about 400 hostas

Thanks so much to those who responded with hints and ideas for me…. Renaldo, good to hear from you! I plan to give my son a shovel since a lot of these are going to be planted at HIS HOUSE! I have already moved about 25 plants there. What a job! Landscaping fabric and mulch had to be removed and the...

I need to move about 400 hostas

Hi All! I have not been an active member of the forum for a long time, but I try to read it whenever I can. I have been experiencing many ‘life changes’ in the past couple of years and hope things will get back to normal soon…. That said, I have the overwhelming task of moving around 400 hostas in t...

Thanks for all the encouraging words, everyone. I'm sure there is a doggie out there for us, somewhere. It's just a bummer to get all excited about a dog you think might be perfect and then .. boom! Gone! I spent last night looking at Golden rescue webpages. Not too many around here. Most will only ...

Looking for a dog is depressing....

What a bummer. I am beginning to think I am not meant to have a dog. I’ve been watching the websites of several shelters in the area and thought I had found THE ONE, but it was not to be… again. Apparently someone came to see ‘Stone’ (see posting about border collies) after I was there on Tuesday. T...

Oh my! That is awful news. Keep us up on what your vet has to say and how Thunder will be treated. We'll be thinking of you both. :(

Inside cats are declawed all the way around. That's why I am hoping the outside ones will teach him a lesson before he meets the inside ones! Then, he will think they are just more of the same!

I'm glad to hear you say that, OED, but you have to take into consideration that the cats were in cages and the dog was on a leash. The gal from the shelter was just about spun around in a circle when the first cat hissed and Stone circled around her legs, trying to find the fastest way out of that ...

Boogie, our male Siamese bites when you pet him, too. Not hard, but more than I'd like! I can usually tell when he's going to do it, so tell him NO BITING! and then ignore him. It hasn't really stopped him from doing it the next time, though. Must be a guy thing

Thanks, everyone, for your opinions and comments. I really appreciate it! I was able to stop out at our local shelter yesterday and visited with Stone, the black dog I posted about before. He was really a nice dog! A bit wiggly and eager to see me (anybody!) - but he is still a puppy. The gal at the...

OED - You are right! I have heard of those Nova Scotia Tolling retrievers, too! But... I could find very little about them on the internet. Apparently they are keeping them all up in Canada! Only found one breeder in Oregon. My DH is not wild to drive to the next county to look at a dog, much less t...

Ginger - The boxers I've seen are bigger and more solid than my golden retriever was. I want to DOWN SIZE! PatSue - French bulldog! No way! That is an interesting site, though. There is another one out there somewhere that does the same thing, but yours is more detailed. I tried it and t...

Whoa! Three strikes against BC's. I am soooo glad I asked before getting one! I knew you guys would give me a straight answer. That's what I wanted to know!

Our golden was probably in the 70 lb range. Would love to find a 45 lb one!

Guess I need to go talk to them at the shelters...

Thanks!

Thanks OED (and Victoria)! I was hoping to hear from OED on this. That's exactly what I wanted to know. I suspected that would be your answer and I'm glad to know it NOW instead of later. With all that goes on in my life, I just know I would not have the time to devote to seriously training a dog, o...

Thinking of getting a border collie.. need expert opinions!

We are finally getting to the point where we want to replace our dog who died over two years ago. I'd like it to be smaller than a golden retriever, have a tail (not a stub!) and have more hair than a lab. The biggest requirement is that it be absolutely ‘cat friendly’. Mariah was our golden retriev...

I find it interesting that the high bidder (yesterday) has now withdrawn his bid... perhaps because of people warning him of the virus? Someone else is high bidder now. I have gotten a couple of plants from this seller in the past, but have decided to boycott his auctions because of his stand on the...

Thanks, everyone, for your replies. I found out, thanks to Petalpusher’s mint suggestion, that it is called Clearweed or Richweed. (Pilea pumila) Google is wonderful, isn’t it? I was pretty sure it wasn’t a mint (no smell, short roots/no runners) but that gave me a place to start looking. One...

Thanks, Chris. That was easy. Glad to know it isn't something awful. I will have to look around for the Ironite spray stuff!

Now, can you identify the weed I have posted in the gardening discussion forum??

Thanks again!

Chris, could this be HXV or ???

Am I paranoid or what? This is a Lakeside Looking Glass that just looks kinda odd along the veins. I have 2 separate plants, one like this and one darker, more solid green. They are planted about 15 feet apart, this one under the pines and the other, out on the edge of the garden where it probably g...

Need help with weed ID...

Can anyone identify the weed that is swallowing my hostas? I just want to know so that I can insert the correct name into my cursing and ranting as I pull them, on my hands and knees, AGAIN! It has a square-ish, very ‘watery’ stem and can get quite tall, 12” or more. The roots are very shallo...
