IMHO ferns are the best companions plants for hostas. Japanese fern is awesome! ...also Christmas fern.
Of course red or pink or white astilbes provide excellent companions.

After hosta gardening for 5 years the virus finally got to me...at least in a way that it showed...possible the virus must have been hiding in my gardens for a long time...dont know for sure. For the last couple of days temperatures have been higher than normal here in the Ottawa-Montreal region. The safety date however is May 4, so anything can happen between now and then. It is nice to be out there cleaning up...and patiently awaiting for those eyes to come out...Right now I can see so...

As for Liberty I found a 2006 pic. It measured 40x22 last year and like Hank mentioned, Liberty seems to grow low....semi-upright to the best.
I'm also posting another pic showing Liberty with Jade Cascade and Risky Business...a matter of practicing...
