First, nature is nature, and things ARE going to happen. I find it reassuring knowing that with nature, most things happen in cycles and what was bad is likely to get better. All we can do is weather the storm...literally or figuratively, when it happens. Sharing the pain/rage/sorry of the loss of a...

Can I ask what is in the lower right corner? I'm trying to ID a plant and it looks a bit like that one.

Paradigm is quite a looker, nice large, mature plant!

I learn something new here every day! Thank you. Hmmm, I wonder if this is in any of my hosta books. I don't know if this one is one I would call "well grown", unless neglected is "well known". It is is about 5 years old and not all that large. I've heard it can be a slow-grower, however. I planted ...

Last year sport of Cherry Berry

Not sure if this is a sport or reversion. Either way, it is very pretty in its own right. I dug it up to keep the voles out and it's going into a container this weekend.

Someone called it "Marashino Cherry". I like it regardless and pulled an eye or two off for trading today.

Spilt Milk Sport?

Is my Spilt Milk sporting to a solid edge version? I think most of the medium green edged leaves are from the same eye.

I think the value is in the hybridizer's work to get to the previous generation...generations before of "good" genes.

Just wondering! There ought to be a name for this kind of streaky hosta...butter and cream/ yellow and white?

Hopefully, some of our current crop of great hybridizers can afford a couple of those lovely breeder hostas. Those auctions have gone that high before for other plants, so I'm not surprised at the prices. If you read the hosta journal, you will find that rarities can go for much higher. I can't affo...

Actually, I checked, and the q-tips were supposed to go into film tubes in the freezer. I'm going to give it a try with my early bloomers and see what happens!

Even my younger Sagae's had more margin on the edge than what I'm seeing, though as pointed out, the flowers on the second one look more like a Sagae. I did, however, see some younger plants at a nearby nursery that always has it that look somewhat like your plant. Sometimes the time of year the pho...

Nature waters hostas from overhead, so I figure I can too. On the other hand, nature didn't make most of the hostas we have! I'm of the opinion, though that most can handle it as their shape makes them a natural funnel.
