Just when do you have that spring sale? Us MN people need to know this information! Also, is a garden tour included with the sale for entertainment?

Very Depressing

When I wake up the wind is howling outside the window, a glance outside shows a dusting of snow. Boo hoo, just 3 days ago I was outside potting perennials for the city wide garage sale coming up in a couple of weeks. Last night I hauled the potted hosta roots into the kitchen. They were so brave com...

I'm really glad to hear your opionion Chris because I don't like to divide. I want them to get as big as possible & I've heard, maybe on this forum, that it takes 5 to 6 years for a hosta to mature & that is without dividing or moving it. If it is moved or divided it sets it back.

The color encylopedia of hostas says you need to divide Pauls Glory every 4 0r 5 years to maintain the correct color. Is this true? What color does it become without division?

last year my peridigm sent out an all green sport which I devided off. This year the paradigm is staying true to itself & the all green sport is spectacular for an all green hosta. Very pebbled & it is just now sending up a bloom shoot. That's a brave hosta in MN.

new critters--help!

Last evening I was strolling the hosta of the year patch & I noticed smal ant like critters busily chewing away on guacomole & stained glass. The eyes had just come up last week & were looking great then I noticed a decline. Now they are so sad. Last nite is the first time I saw the critters though....

Hi there, I'm no expert, but I too was worried about the appearance of some of my hostas. I started looking at the hostas in the better garden centers & some of them looked just like mine did. I think in the late summer & fall some hostas tend to develope a splochy appearance that is a little scary....
