Re: Hosta 'Blushing Blue'

That's beautiful Sugar. Nice to hear from you, by the way! Does it keep that purple/red color all year or does it come and go? I'll be looking forward to seeing it on the market. Hopefully it will be in tissue culture in the US some time. Thanks for sharing it! Chris @ all : Thanks for the complime...

Re: New hostas from Marco Fransen

Jaws is an outstanding garden plant, no slug damage at all over here (perhaps due to the 'teeth' on the leaves .
I also like Gretchen Grace, very nice plant. Not familiar with the rest

Hosta 'Blushing Blue'

This is one of my first seedlings. H. longipes var hypoglauca x H. Salute. I will be registring this one next year under the name Hosta 'Blushing Blue'. The plant will also be put into tissue culture. Hosta Registry - not in the registry as of 09/2015 MyHostas Database - http://myhostas.be/db/hostas...

I put on a head torch every other night and go out with an old pair of (pruning) scissors and cut every slug in two .

I agree with Mark, defency. I 'cured' my stiletto by fertilizing it with potassium sulphat.

Have some patience. This plant will later in the season transform towards this variegation .

Re: Welcome to sugar

Well, I guess I'm back. Have been working on my new home, with a much larger garden.... I won't be necesserally buying additional hosta (I'm going fruity all the way), but I haven't reduced my collection, and still have some nice seedlings, at least one will be registered next year

It disappears after a while, but is very striking the time it lasts. The plant it self would be a stunner without this glitter

Hosta Justine http://supermasj.zenfolio.com/img/s3/v25/p48148144-4.jpg Tetraploid June Fever. While June Fever is an outstanding hosta, Justine seems better in every way. Substance and presence. Can take lots of sun & heat. Hosta 'Lakeside Breaking News' http://supermasj.zenfolio.com/img/s1/v21/p38...

Hosta 'Silver Shadow', a sport from Devon Green. This plant does not seem to grow (and I've seen several other specimens of this plant that won't grow either)

Re: So many new hostas on the market...

Yes there are probably too much Hosta registred every year, but we all know the market will take care of the poor ones (they will disappear). But I think it wasn't any different 10 or 20 years ago. How many puckered yellow plants or rather similar looking Elegans seedlings have been registred in the...
