No tma, I don't bury them. Just anchor them on top of the pot to keep them from digging inside it. On the ground, I anchor them flat over winter, then raise them up a few inches when I see signs of green shoots. By the time the tulips/blubs are a couple of inches tall I remove the screen and they're...

I'm so sorry! Such heart felt words show the magnitude of losing our beloved pets. It's haunting the way you still see them out of the corner of your eye for weeks.

Everything is up except for On Stage and Wooly Mammoth and I'm a nervous wreck! I bought some king size, dark green sheets on clearance to use on frost nights, at least the yard will have a coordinated color scheme.

Mr. Leafmold, I'm convinced you are really a wizard. How else could you grow these extraordinary hostas so consistently?!! I think that cute little dog knows all the secrets.

Those dahlias look beautiful - no wonder you're hooked Minnow! Going to forget the penstemon, that's what I keep reading about it, thanks for sharing your experience. They must have named it perennial of the year before all the votes were in! Or maybe it's like a few particular hostas - some people ...

Alexa, that's basically one of my favorites, it always hits the spot doesn't it?! Don't know why I've never thought to use Italian seasoning for chicken crock pot, Jane. Or for that matter, why I haven't been doing the whole 3 lb. bag of breasts either! Pressure cooker, I don't own - didn't they use...

:D Alexa, you made my day letting it be known you're a private chef! I was starting to feel some remorse about my lack of desire and skill in the cooking department, lol.
Your recipes always make me hungry - you should post some photos of these menus and events!

Yes, Josh! I love the dark heucheras, have a Hillside Beauty cimicifuga that hasn't done much of anything for two years. Maybe in too much shade, do you think? Might be time to try a different spot because their foliage has wonderful texture that would look great with daylilies. Anyone growing a cim...

What's for supper?

Very soon now, we'll want to be outside planting and playing in the garden all day! Cooking comes last on the priority list but that question never goes away. Thank goodness DH grills out much of the time! Even so, I have to come up with my share of menus and I'm always looking for fast and easy. I'...

Favorite dark foliage

As of last year, my favorites are Chocolate Eupatorium, Black Jack Sedum and Sambuca Blace Lace. Thinking of giving the Penstemon Huskers Red a try this year but I read controversial comments on this one! What are some of your favorites with dark leaves?

Healthy looking babies! I better look up those instructions because mine were a complete failure.

Good news though, I'm seeing some heucheras beginning to show life in the garden with just a few days of warmer temps and sun!

Yes Jeanne, at a box store, right by the grills and accessories. You can also elevate them with small rocks underneath so when the shoots begin to come up they have space above, yet still be protected from squirrels and rabbits.
