Yeah, I know how that is with the lilacs being too tall to pick or smell up close. Mine are that way too. But don't want to cut them all down. May not live long enough for them to bloom well again!!! :D So will probably prune out the oldest and tallest. Nanyc PS I don't buy green bananas for the sam...

My question is this: Does the leaf stalk (petiole?) photosynthesize enough to feed the roots if the leaf is just too shattered/shredded, crispy and obviously dead to the world? So sorry about the water in the basement. Been there ....done that ..Myself! :oops: I left the soaker hose on for ...umm, uhh, 'a little too long', and the water seeped in through where the floor meets the wall. ( Thoroughly watered!) That made a long over-due purging necessary. And guess that I did...

Oh noooo Ol' Frosty snuck in last night. Can see that a few things got nipped. Will go out in a bit to access the damage. I'm certainly not ready to give up the gardens. There is sooo much yet to do. Thought that I would start them inside....Feb or Mar, maybe. Can't put them out till mid May, or later.. I have kept begonias, and they need to start in Feb, am just guessing that the caladium could need that much time too. Have tried with caladium in the past, with 0% success. Am hoping for better ...

I bought a number of lovely Caladium this year. After initial die-down, they have started to come back quite nicely....just in time for frost! I want to try to carry the bulbs over winter. I won't have room (nor probably the expertise or humidity to keep the whole plant). Does anyone have any sugges...

Charla Thanks for the info. I believe that there are a few that are not just green.
