I read somewhere that seeds can be kept for years if dried and then placed in moisture-proof containers such as Ball canning jars with lids. I would keep them in cool basement temperatures.

JaneG, Do you use the 12 by 12 pages and are there sheet protectors that large or do you do the 8.5 by 11? I too started out making everything too fancy and then just gave up :( I really want to return to it this spring when I'm not working. Thanks for all of your tips, they have put my mind in the ...

Glad to hear you're planning to continue also! I need to start doing some strength training soon. Did over 13,000 steps today, probably won't be able to walk at all tomorrow  I have to say that having you for support has made all the difference. I would have given up on my own if you weren't th...

Hi Claudia, I'm still going fine, doing over 10,000 each day and feeling great! Actually seem to be sleeping better too! I'm back to work for the winter and haven't been on line too much but was happy to get a notice that the post is still active and THRILLED to read your post. Congratulations on go...

CONGRATULATIONS CLAUDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on quitting smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That alone will do more for you than the walking but that combined with the walking is fantastic!!!! I'm so proud of you and hope you are happy about that choice. Don't want to make excuses for not walking. As s...

Had a week with the grandchildren and am trying to recover  Only missed 10,000 two days due to exhaustion one day and a painful knee the other. But our treadmill is back in operation so I did 12,000 yesterday after the grandkids left. Still have only lost two pounds  but clothes continue ...

I've had no experience with hostas in pots over the winter but I have had a few very nicely decorated pots crack when left out in the winter with no covering. The water can crack the pot. Just mentioning this in case anyone is using a nice pot...

Wow, Tami, again you are an inspiration and help keep me moving! We were in such a hurry to pick the the grandkids that I forgot my pedometer yesterday morning. We must have walked 100,000 steps at the apple orchard  but I still managed to log in the 10,000. Figure those extra steps were offse...

WOW! :o
If I lived in the UK I would have these on order by now!
They call them "hardy" but I guess that can't mean the same as a hardy plant here. I can't believe that it blooms Jan-Mar and shrugs off snow!!! Amazing. Thank you for sharing that info and I really hope you've ordered one!

In the north, I think, we get more minutes (?) of sunlight in the summer than those in the south do. Is this the effect you mean?

Jane, as soon as my treadmill is back in action (we're painting the room it's in) I'll try to calculate about how many steps in an hour unless someone else knows. I've found that usually I'm eating a little less as I feel so good about the pounds lost so far and know that it takes a lot of walking t...

Pretty bloom!
Don't know where you are zone-wise so I'm wondering if your greenhouse will keep the plants from freezing over the winter or just warmer? Will you have it heated? Looks like a lot of cubic feet in there! :D

Rox, Someday I hope my hostas will look like yours do! WOW! Beautiful combinations especially in the first photo. What does it mean to say that a hosta isn't registered? I haven't been able to find the answer to that and don't understand why or how one could be named if it isn't registered. Thanks.

Thank, Claudia. For me one of the most inspiring bits from the emails we're getting is the fact that when you diet you loose muscle, while when you walk these extra steps you loose fat. Again, I want to say that the pedometer has pushed me to do those extra steps in order to meet my goal. Plus, havi...

Great work, Tami and Claudia. I've met my goal of 10,000 each day and did a few days over 11,000. The scale shows a drop of two pounds but it's been know to give and take away on its own. However, I do feel less stomach and going on how my clothes fit, there is less of me! That's very encouraging. F...
