Hosta and water

I have been on vacation in Destin, Florida and the condo we were in had awful internet service. Wild Dog, I tried to reply the other day, but the internet stopped working. The condo advertised "High Speed Wi-Fi", what a joke. Wild Dog, show us more pictures of your experiments. I have found all this...

To Linda P

Thanks for the message about my UA or what ever it is. I could very well be wrong about the name. Especially due to your translation. The question now is - what are they?.

Bigger leaf

That's what I was going to say - leaf looks wider. Good looking plant and it must be more stable than UA.

Wild Bill

Bill - So you are in favor of the saucer. With most of my potted hostas, what I have found is that water runs through the pot quickly. I watch this thinking how can this be proper water application?

Amazing

Jim - your hostas are simply awesome. Do you sell any of these? You should! I would buy one - probably many.

Potting technique

My Fragrant Fire is showing some brown edges on a few leaves. I think this is simply a water issue. This is my prized hosta and I water it very regularly. Since we have had so little rain here, I potted this hosta and have it in a shaded area on my front porch along with a few other hostas. This mak...

I agree

I know what you mean. These hostas are probably 8 or 9 years old and I divided them all from just a few plants which was given to me by my mother in law - with no indentification. This year, I have seen identical hostas (identical leaf) at both a local nursery and The Home Depot. These hostas were m...

What does your Undulata look like?

I have about 30 H. Undulata Albomarginata in my yard. Over the years their color has changed to what you see below, which is OK to me. They look streaked or misted with some petals that are have white with two shades of green. I would be interested in seeing pictures of other mature Undulata's... Jeff

Powder on my Paul's Glory

I purchased a Paul's Glory and after I got home, noticed that on one side of the plant, the petioles had a powder like substance on it. What is it and should I be concerned about it.

Thanks,

Jeff

What rain?

Until last Saturday, I thought I had forgotten what rain felt like. We scheduled a work day at church and I worked in at times a pouring rain. This week has been seen some rain, but Arlene, I know just what you mean...

Undulatta

I have a bunch of these and they make a very nice clump when mature, but mine also have changed color. They are mostly streaked and solid. But my large clumps still look good and they make a good background for my new hostas.

Biggest Disappointment

I ordered a Great Expectation off the internet (sorry, not from Hallson, another nursery before I found Hallson), it arrived in poor condition and did not look like the picture on the website. With shipping, I paid $29 and ran across three at a local nursery recently that were in great shape, much m...

Compost tea

I was at the Alabama Hosta Society meeting in May and "Captain Compost" held a discussion about organic gardening and talked about taking a whiz on your compost - that it was a good thing to do! Check out his website: http://www.captaincompostalabama.com/
