We actually have both types of carbon. One from the fish tanks, and the other from the household water supply. We ussually have an abundance of carbon floating around that ineviedably ends up in the land fill. Laura is completely correct in her understanding of the cycle, regarding waste, nitrates a...

Thank you John, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one to use fish water! I'm just trying to make sure that I don't add problems by changing the chemicals in the soil. Adding Carbon (Charcoal) is something that I'm not sure of the concequences. I don't want to loose any hosta's. As for the nemato...

Hi Roxanne We have 6 Tropical fish Tanks! (My husbands hobby) And the carbon filters for our household water supply. So recycling some of these items have become important. We also deal with a lot of watering bans, so water of any kind doesn't go down the drain unless it has to. Thank you for your i...

Hosta's and Activated Carbon

Hi to everyone! I was wondering if there was any benifit or problem in sprinkling activated carbon around Hosta's? I gennerally get a lot of the used fish water waste, which includes a substancial amount of Vitamins and minerals. Ph levels are balanced and the nitrites and nitrates are always balanc...

My Husbands Favorite camera is his Cannon EOS Rebel. He has several lens, filters and attachments. But for some reason feels as though he requires more~ His camera is not digital. He has a digital camera that I paid a lot of money for, but perfers the EOS system. I don't pretend to know anything mor...

Hi Hank Of all the pictures that I've been watching, I think these ones are my favorite so far. I love how they stand out and they are so easy to see as individual plants. The colors and the contrasts are stunning as they are arranged. My husband is the photographer in our family. I can point and sh...

Hi there; I'm not sure how the used ones would be... It might keep pesky, animals out of your gardens... I'll see if I can get a used wet diaper, to do some soil tests. Mostly to check PH and Acidity. If we can use amonia on our Hosta's, I'm thinking they should be able to handle a little baby pee :...

Hi Thy; If you were to look back at the thread, Labelled, "How far do you go to baby your Hosta's", There is some information posted there. You will only use the inners (absorbing area). I would not include everything else, as it could cause water to sit and not drain or get absorbed properly. Take ...

When did everyone start thier Hosta Seeds? (Just as a scale) And do they stay under those lights 24-7 the entire time? I've been doing as much as I can to keep up with the information with starting seeds, and have read through hours of the forum relating to this topic. I must admit, I think I would ...

Hi Chris; Is there any way we could locate some of those strips and the proper name of them? I haven't seen anything that resembles the Virus in my gardens, but I would like to start testing them just in case. Big move this year for all the hosta's in the back yard. I'd like to dispose of anything c...
