I've always heard that Hosta's and Maples don't go together. :( Don't fret, I have two beds circling two red maples. They both have Hosta's, Solomans seal, lucifers, small ornamental shrubs, cork screw, tulips, rockets, bleeding hearts, Huechrea, and the list goes on.... and on ... Oh and some Dalia...

Varigated Iris

Does anyone know if there is a name to a varigated Iris? I have one that has wide Blue/Green and White stripes. I've hunted looking for a name, and I can't find a varigated one. It produces very pink flowers. It doesn't reproduce very fast. it's actually very slow. It is also not as big as a typical...

Hi there! Not an expert, but I agree with the last two looking the same! Undulata of sort maybe a "Picto" The first one looks like a "Lancifolia" The color should get a little darker as the summer progresses. Yours looks to be in a little more sunlight than where mine typically sits. Check out the "...

Drastic times are calling for drastic measures. Mary ann; It was suggested to me that completely torching the plant would get rid of the virus in the plant it's self. However I find this tactic to be unsettling for trying to get rid of it throughout the soil bed it came from. Koterizing roots don't ...

In another Tread it was suggested to use a spade fork, to put it out, instead of cutting it with a shovel. It also suggested staying as close to the crown as possible. It doesn't eliminate the possibility of spread, just reduces the risks. It's under the "cleaning/disinfecting tools" Thread posted b...

Could we start a new updated list?
I know Chris is really busy this time of year, so I wouldn't mind trying to keep track of the information and keeping an updated list for posting here.
Any objections?

I would have to agree with Pieter; I personnaly wouldn't divide the plant yet. Unless you are planning on having two seperate plants I would leave it. Typically I loosen waist bands, to give them more room, but I gennerally don't make a habit of dividing unless it needs it! But then again, that's ju...

Hi there! Great Question ~ What do you do with an infected plant that is already in the ground? If you dig it out, you leave roots behind that will sap and contaminate the soil. Leaving the possiblity of other Hostas picking up the disease. At least we're on the same page, regarding the contaminatio...
