Re: Your favorite yellows?

WOW - thanks so much everyone. Your yellows are drool worthy. So hard to choose, I think I might have to get ...:hmm: ...THEM ALL :D . (Thanks for enabling!) Keep the ideas coming, if there are others out there with suggestions. I'm enjoying virtually visiting your gardens and learning from you! :be...

Your favorite yellows?

Hi all,

With the addition of this year's newest hostas, I've discovered my garden is sadly lacking solid yellows/golds. I'd love to hear what your favorites are (and see photos). Your input will really help me figure out what else I need to order.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Best plant ID tags - opinion?

Well, thanks so much everyone for the information!!! I have a PTouch already so now I just need to find the tape. Those Eon tags look a squillion times better than the junk copper ones I have. It's going to take a while, but we're going to be looking good at some point here.

Best plant ID tags - opinion?

Hello everyone, I notice that in everyone's photos there are lovely little silver ID stakes, labeled with the printed name of each plant. Can anyone tell me what these are? I bought copper stakes last year and engraved them and they are already falling apart this spring :x So disappointing. Thanks f...

Re: Does it normally take this long?

HI Marlys, Hostacide? You go girl. This being my first group, I am going to keep them all. I figure if they can live through my learning curve, they deserve it. Right now I'm battling algae which I have read is due to over watering. My bad. Live and learn. My mantra is next year I'll do better. Than...

Ugh, I'm suffering from a bad case of hosta envy. I don't even have any eyes up yet!

Your photos are gorgeous!

Re: Does it normally take this long?

Hello Linda, Thanks for asking about my kids! Well, I can definitely say that productivity has dropped dramatically around my house since I planted these seeds! :-? I seem to spend a good portion of the day staring at them; watching, waiting and worrying. Husband has commented that it's maybe time I...

Re: Does it normally take this long?

Thanks for the advice Charla - very much appreciated. I used the heat mat because our house is only around 60 during the day and around 50 or less at night :o . Luckily they were ok. I was dying to see any signs of life; now I can't wait to see a leaf. I guess I'm just never satisfied...does seem li...

Does it normally take this long?

Hello everyone, After reading pretty much all the entries on this forum, I started my first bunch of seeds on March 10 with a great deal of excitement. They came from the Ontario Hosta Society and I've been watching them like a hawk through the dome lid. About a week ago, I started seeing little ste...

Re: More Seeds to Donate

Oh Marlys, Thanks so very much! I can barely wait. I've got all my seed stuff laid out in anticipation in the dining room ready for when they show up. I've been reading up as much as I can find about being successful with the seeds. So fingers crossed! I'll let you know when they arrive and how I do...

Re: Welcome, Gardenitis! All the way from Canada

Well hi there Lisa, Thanks so much for the welcome & I'm glad you got a kick out of my handle!! I have to admit that I am really enjoying meeting fellow gardeners on here. Isn't it nice to hear other garden maniacs talk about their passion? Geez, I love it - very support group-ish :D Definitely need...

Re: Can anyone identify?

HI Eastwood2007, When you asked me about potential inkblot pattern on this plant, I returned to my photos to see if I could find another photo of this plant to supersize for a closer inspection. I found a few more photos taken around that time, of the plants around that area as well as this hosta. I...

Can anyone identify? PART 2 Holy cow-WOW!

Well, thanks to everyone who has already replied to part 1 of this topic. If you remember, I was asking for the identity of this BGH which has lived at this house for quite some time. I, on the other hand, have only been here since Feb. 2008. To say the least it's been a crazy year. IMG_2688.jpg Any...

Re: Can anyone identify?

Hey LucyGoose, I loved your comment...I think you and I are kindred gardners. When I had limited space, plants really had to earn their spots in my garden. Now I'm desperate for enough plants so that the place doesn't feel barren (I think I must have reverse claustrophia). If only the money didn't r...

Re: Can anyone identify?

I must admit, I do think this one is beautiful - not stunning mind you, but beautiful with it's big healthy green leaves. The photo with the holes in the leaves was taken in October, after husband and I had been vacationing for the better part of a month. So, considering my slug infestation, and how...

Re: And another with no name...

Definitely not the most attractive hosta I've ever owned. Several of these clumps came with the house (along with a super thriving slug population  ).

Just thought if someone could name it, maybe I could learn to appreciate it.

Thanks Joan for your compliment. We were on a 28 foot wide lot in the city before we moved here. I feel like I've died and gone straight to heaven. My favorite is Sunday, gardening as the church bells ring. Ah, heaven...
