they are greedy feeders, and like to be in soil rather than a tub or or restricted liner. do you cover it each winter? the root is quite hardy, but the crowth stems are not, so if last years growing point died a new one will be small each year, that might account for a small palnt with a large root ...

you need to sow the seeds fresh, put them in a pot on top of the compost and cover them with a thin layer of perlite or grit, they do need the winter eliments to germinate them, so leave the pot where mother nature can do her stuff, but shelter from the hardest of the weather, under an evergreen bus...

Hi All, been a while since I posted.........Hi KHT
I have a few different species of acer (japanese maples) I have tried a couple of times to grow them from seed but with little success, does anyone here have any useful tips and hints i can use? i will try any and all
