I made a heart-shaped turkey burger for John for Valentine's day. Just sayin'.
Love that last pic of the two of you with the penguins.

As we bid farewell to another year that rolled by faster than a rock marble, this seems a fitting tribute to it.
Thank you for sharing another year of your travels, and
Happy New Year, Idiots!!

The battle rages on. :( So sorry to hear about all this . And in the midst of you lost another brother to cancer. I have lost two as well, same cause, along with several first cousins who were very close, and another on Hospice now . I hope that your battles with the trees are settled soon. That's w...

35 hours of travel would have me looking for the nearest hospital, but I am so glad that you are able to hang in there for it, and so grateful that you share your journey. And as always, you create a masterpiece with your photos. The person in the Crocs, with the layered wrap bottom and the t-shirt,...

Re: Idiots Here & There Ep 4 Bury My Heart at Wounded K
I'm even later in getting around to reading about your latest adventures than you were in writing them. I struggled through the all 487 pages of "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" when it came out in the early 70's. Many boxes of tissues were required during the reading. I read it several times, and th...

I definitely see blue tones in that, Chris. I have a couple of seedlings that I see more blue in than others. Like you, I am never quite sure if there is actually as much blue there as I think I see.

From the moment I saw the pot in the first pic, I was sure that it went home with you. I'm so glad you have that piece, and the wonderful memories that go with it.

Lovely. I'm glad that The Idiots are slowing down to capture the small landscapes hidden in the vast expanses of natural beauty. I have long thought the same thing about the lifestyle of the native Americans, before they were introduced to the bad habits of our European ancestors. A hard life, to be...

I'm so sorry, Jim and Sheila. I guess you can sit in the Zen room and turn your backs to the garden for a while? And then take a breath, clean it up and maybe take an impromptu trip in the new RV?

I haven't checked in here in a while, Phyllis, and I was dismayed to read your post. Your seedy friends are still out here, holding you close. If your doctors say that it's easier to treat there, I'd take their word for it. I guess you break out the scarves again, and stock your kitchen with the thi...

Welcome back, Robin. I agree with Chris: start over in a new spot somewhere. I don't think they know yet just how long that virus can be a problem in the soil. It's such a sneaky monster.

Hostas are just breaking the ground here in NW Illinois, at least the ones that aren't in deep shade. I haven't been able to get all of the beds raked yet, so some may have a little extra leaf mulch this year. Daffodils are in bloom now, and today the weather guessers are speculating that it may be ...

I do believe I would have a problem with that ferry, but I'm glad you were able to tuck the Beast in there and make the trip to the island.
I find the miniature landscapes very soothing, and I hope you continue to include them.

That would make me laugh too. On the other hand, idle threats of dire consequences that will never be carried out lead to children who just go on doing what they're doing.

Evocative images! I'm glad you decided to be travelers here. I can't wait to read your essay on the Gullah people. A couple notes; 1: They still end CBS Sunday Morning with a few nature moments. 2. I grew up in a house made of tabby construction. Our house was built in 1847 by a man named Edward Whi...

May I add to your story that your garden is among the most restful and inspiring I have seen? And also has what must be one of the largest H. 'Eskimo Pie' in the world?
It was a privilege to spend an afternoon in your garden.
