Thank you for the comments. . . There is no apparent bug problem, no mildew, just the leaves turning from their dark green to a lighter green. They are healthy, mature plants, and had an abundance of flowers this spring. . .

my soil is kinda clay, but have amended it and added some milorganite early this spring. They are mulched, and watered occasionally. . are in full sun til about 2;00.

The holes seem to be consistent with slug damage that I've had before, but the leaves are not damaged. . . thanks for answering.

Slugs

Have a problem with something eating holes in the stems of my tall hostas (don't know name as they were given to me by a friend) and then the leaves bend over at the hole area and eventually die. Have gone out several times to find the culprits, but find NO slugs, and earwigs are not that bad this y...

Thanks for the reply victoria . . . it's very hard to get to the suckers through the myrtle, but I will sure give it a try. . . did paint the leaves, but didn't carry through to the root.

I do also have quite a few earwigs, but the slugs are taking over my hostas, and am doing damage just trying to pick them off. . . thanks for the info. Enjoyed your Hosta Slideshow . . . really impressive!

I'm having big problems with slugs again this year. Put on Ortho's Bug-Geta Plus last fall . . . again this spring as the tips appeared, and again a month later.
