Re: To all those to whom I sent seeds

Hi Phyllis, Unfortunately, none of my seeds germinated (I tried the DB seedling and the large streaked seedling). No problem though as I was able to get seeds from several sources. Although your seeds sounded nice, I mainly requested from you to support the Hallsons Forum with a donation. Good luck ...

Re: Hallson Member Seed Exchange - 2008!

I finally have my seed cleaned and ready to go. I don't have a lot this year due to weather and DEER, but do have seed from a few plants. Please send a PM if you are interested in something, and I'll verify that I still have seed. I'll take care of the mailer and postage. Please send whatever you ca...

Re: Bob Solberg to Speak to Iowa Hosta Societies

Thanks Josh. Here is the info on the Russ O'Harra Hosta Society fall meeting: We will be meeting Sunday October 5 at the Iowa Arboretum (1875 Peach Avenue, Madrid). To get to the Arboretum...take Hwy 17 to Luther, then follow the signs...it is just a few miles west and south of Luther. We plan to ga...

I hope everyone has a great time at the Regionals!! I wish we could be there. Reldon, the plant was Greg Johnson's 'Chado' (meaning 'High Tea Ceremony' in Japanese, I understand). I was just the designated bidder for the other pepper half. Well ok, maybe the last arm and leg I bid beyond Gary's limi...

Marlys and Reldon...it's great to hear that you will make it to the ROHS tour. Should be good!

I'll make sure you are on the list for lunch (please let me know if you are wanting the veggie version...otherwise I'll put you down for the pork sandwich).

The ground is nice and white up here near Madrid this morning, but there hopefully will be nothing left of the 1-2" of snow by this afternoon! It's great to hear that so many are planning on making the meeting tomorrow! I too am looking forward to hearing about Trudy's and Greg's hostas! Trudy...the...

Nice looking seedlings Bev! I tried a bunch of 'Gone Fishin' this year. It is VERY slow...most seedlings are less than an inch tall with 2 leaves, while many things planted at the same time are 2-4" tall with 4+ leaves. I don't see any streaking in the GF seedlings, but there are quite a few yellows...

Nice article by Josh in the Hosta Journal

Congratulations, Josh! Very nice article in the newest Hosta Journal! I definitely agree on Frosted Jade. We've got it in several places in our gardens, in various stages of growth. It took several years for even the 'frost' to be really eye catching as well. Now it really stands out. I loved your p...

I have tried for several years to produce seed on DQ, and have not had a single pod set from crosses or o.p. I remember when I bought mine from Greg Johnson he said that it was a tough one to get crosses to take on, but that it was worth trying as it could produce some interesting progeny. I posted ...

We had a great time as well. The gardens were beautiful and the auction was so much fun. Trudy demonstrated her neat trick of positioning herself directly behind Connie D when she was bidding against her. What a mischievious lady! Renaldo might have been throwing daggers to keep me from bidding for ...
