Second year Sagae.
I planted this one kinda late last year - early June. It threw up a couple stunted leaves and then just sat all summer. It was in a spot that got full sun from dawn until 4 PM. I decided to move it to a shadier spot this spring. The Gold Edger's underneath are temporary until I can find a better pla...

Re: Re-blooming hostas?
Great! I was already very happy with Twist of Lime, but if it reblooms regularly that's just icing on the cake! Very pretty and vivid purple flowers. I probably wouldn't have ordered it, but Chris threw it in as free sample on an order and I liked it so much I bought a few more! Nice bright contrast...

Re-blooming hostas?
Much to my surprise Katie Q and Twist of Lime are both re-blooming this week. They were the first to bloom this spring. I wasn't expecting a second flush of flowers. Is this normal for early blooming hosta? Should I snip the stalks to encourage root growth or just enjoy the flowers? These are first ...

Is this a symptom of HVX?
This is Loyalist that I received from a reputable internet hosta vendor early this spring. In the past few weeks white centers have turned dark green on a few plants. Does the dark green coloring in the white are indicate HVX?

Yup. That's a Regal Splendor!
Wow, I knew these grew tall scapes but I wasn't expecting 57" the first year! Hopefully the foliage catches up with the scapes a bit next year.

Re: My first garden (picture heavy)
I'm curious as to where you are located because the houses look just like those in the neighbourhood where I grew up in a suburb east of Rochester, NY. Close, I'm in Rome. House was built in 1890 during the canal days. So if I build a bed that abuts grass, I try to put in a "mowing strip". I consid...

My first garden (picture heavy)
Hi All, I've been lurking here for a while and thought it was time to post some pictures. I started working on this project in mid March and am mostly done for this summer. All the hosta's but Sagae, Liberty, Regal Splendor and Gold Edger came from Hallson. Their plants and service were the best of ...
