Re: Allan P. McConnell - Streaked Sport?
After years of getting plowed down by Rabbits, I pulled and potted this plant this year. It STILL has the same lovely unstable patterning in it, it's very consistent. But I really need to grow this one up quite a bit! It seems very vigorous, has just been set back year after year by rabbits.

Re: Hosta of the Day - longipes Kinugawa Nishiki
I just received one from a vendor and it looks comparable to what yours looks like; no streaking or variegation. Is this cultivar perhaps prone to settling out and vendors are shipping out green reversions?

Re: Allan P. McConnell - Streaked Sport?
So Chris, any ideas on how to keep it more streaky like it is? I presume if this comes back streaky and starts putting out streaky growths, it would be headed in that direction, and then anything that stabilizes or reverts I'd just hack off (like all the Inspire Greatness I get off my Brave Attempts...

Allan P. McConnell - Streaked Sport?
Found this today in a mass edger planting around our "lily" garden (which is about 50% hostas!). 4 big leaves all on one growth, I didn't even think about it...cut it out and planted it elsewhere so I can keep an eye on it! Kinda neat, all streaky on the inside, but still with the white border. I'd ...

A sad update to report, this Pinnochio leaf never re-occurred on this Frances Williams. Man I wish it had.

Grand Tiara Sport - Yank it and Grow?
Found this in the garden today...one growth, right in the middle, some white streaks and lost margins. All the leaves are on one growth, so I'm thinking this should go under the knife and get some TLC to see if it grows into something??? Re: Streaked or Sick?
Sounds like a win then?! Having watched how Brave Attempt stabalizes out consistently to something along the lines of Inspire Greatness, would we call something like this Blizzard (is that presumptuous at this point), or "Streaked Winter Snow" (as you can see in the image, it still clearly seems to ...

Re: Streaked or Sick?
Looks like its streaking to me. Are u sure its Winter Snow? Its going to take a few years to show its size. I got mine in 2010 and its huge. It started showing its size after 2 years. Its a great grower for me. I got it from Bently Gardens via eBay IIRC, and it was probably a starter when I got it....

Streaked or Sick?
Winter Snow, I got it either in 2012 or 2013. It came up this year and had a big yellow streak that quickly showed some holes, but then many other leaves showed up with yellow streaks. So, the question is simply this - is the plant diseased, or has it started streaking... DSC_0306_600w.jpg DSC_0306_...

Cherry Berry is the one that's failed to grow for me...it gets here and goes on the decline. Great expectations has been a great disappointment as well. Sagae has not done well either despite multiple attempts.

Re: Reversion in Hosta Galaxy?
sometimes I wonder why I bother with the streakers - I always forget to collect the seed anyway... Gives you something to do in the garden every year, right? Otherwise you'd just get bored watching all those plants get nice and filled out (can't even tell I made a dent in the old hostas that came f...

Re: Reversion in Hosta Galaxy?
Personally I only think the green or solid colored sports of things should be named if they have merit - otherwise I think we should be doing a lot more culling of things, but I know how hard it is to throw them out, and I have two solid green sports that I sell which some might argue shouldn't be,...

Reversion in Hosta Galaxy?
Just curious after a search, I couldn't come up with a name for the reversion to an all green form in Hosta Galaxy. I have a growth I'm going to have to cut out Should it carry a name, or just be passed off as a NOID / no name generic green?
