Re: Hostas you just can't seem to grow...

What an interesting thread! Now that my hostas have emerged I can actually talk to the subject. My Rainforest Sunrise and Tropical Storm are doing quite well. OTOH, Zounds, Sunpower, and Paradise Island are NOT doing very well. In between rain I got out and snapped a photo of both Tropical Storm and ...

Re: Daily Hosta #1 - 'Fragrant Bouquet' - Add your pics

Funny you bring up this hosta. A fellow hostaholic and I were discussing this hosta today. The old timers like sugar and spice and fragrant bouquet seem to be overlooked lately in favor of some of the newer varieties. Mine are in full bloom now and the fragrance is wondeful!

Cement City here I come

My car is packed, four dogs are ready. Tomorrow morning well before daylight I will venture to Cement City, MI. Some think it is to accept a judging assignment for the dachshund club at the beagle grounds in Cement City. Little do they know it is to visit the FABULOUS HALLSON GARDENS!!!. The venture...

Re: Doggone critters!!!

To reply to Bill's comment..... I have lived out in the country for about 16 years. I have had pocket gopher problems on and off over that time and have had little success in controlling them. I almost cut my fingers off with the traps, the smoke bombs are worthless, poison bait not effective. Soooo...

Re: Doggone critters!!!

When it comes to evening predators I have a GREAT solution. The product NITE GUARD really does work. It even works on deer. It is a blinking red light that runs during the night. It works on birds of prey as well as mammals like coyotes, fox, deer. A friend of mine has been using it all season and t...

Re: Doggone critters!!!

I did not know I would create such a diversity of opinions. I do not advocate killing living creatures and like the thought of a symbiotic relationship with nature. I can tolerate rabbits, deer, chippies having a meal on my plants without too much distress.(I've even been known to feed them in the w...

Two days later .....Black Hills....GONE! roots, leaves...gone! This is the work of a pocket gopher. Earlier this month my pom pom pine tree u...

I have not see this hosta before so I was interested, it looked healthy.... Near this hostas was a couple of hostas that looked suspect. I planted the h...

You certainly could do a 'food' theme:
Guacamole
torilla chip
L Cupcake
Maui Buttercups
Drinking Gourd
Sugar and Spice
Peanut
Split Milk
Twist of Lime
