Re: This is Austin Dickinson
I won't be posting any Hosta photos here anymore because Photobucket has chosen to blackmail their prior users and charge us $400 to be able to have our photos show up calling it third party hosting. I rarely come on here anymore because of it.

Re: Pic of the Day--Stirfry
Nice-one of my favorites, dependable, not bothered too much by slugs. Mine has buds but did not bloom yet.

Re: Baby Rhino Hide & Rainforest Sunrise
I had to dig up Stiletto-fragmented single roots left , same thing with ripple effect. I dipped the roots into rooting hormone, added biotone starter and piled mole max pellets into the new planting holes and pray for the best. Something even got into my raised mini garden and got to my High Society...

Lookin' good! How did you fair from this past winter? I lost 2 to voles and one just didn't come back-Abba dabba do, Blue Umbrellas and Fragrant Queen.

Re: Freeze warning
Thanks a bunch Chris, nothing has leafed out yet, only about 1/2 inch out of the ground . Feel better now. Nothing has been mulched yet and I cleaned up all the fallen leaves and pine needles, so no protection above ground.

Lord when will it stop. My Hosta pips are just starting to emerge-will a freeze overnight damage them?

Re: Had to rip out most of my asiatics
some survived-I flipped out when I saw those bugs covering all the leaves. I read that they will survive in the soil so hopefully the drench (which I did already and lasts for 12 months should help) had cane borers also that killed my Sutherland Gold Sambucus in the spring. This was the worst bug se...

Hoping yours make a come back also. I lost about 4 perennials over the winter too. You know the freeze thaw syndrome. Good luck.

Re: smaller hosta
I think its from the winter weather, I just dug up 5 that didn't get the size they were last year and there were no tree roots, a little bit of compacted soil and the soil under was dry. So I loosened the dirt, added composted soil, watered deeply and replanted. I'm about to drag the hose around and...

Re: Under the shed
There were 6 kittens and mama-and all were adorable they moved next door LOL. Unfortunately my husband is highly allergic to cats, so we don't feed them directly, we put food in the next yard and they now are around the area, I see them once in a while. I blocked the hole after they left, I think it...

smaller hosta
Anyone in the northeast experience their hosta being smaller this year? Some are same as last year, most are half the size they were last year. Nearly lost my Ripple effect, its so small I hope it makes it to next spring. Even some of my lilies are half the height. Just wondering.

Re: Guardian Angel problems
Thanks for the reassurance, I thought it was dying or something. Several of my older Hosta did not reach the same size they were last year, I guess this one is taking its time and our winter and late spring freeze took its toll.

I planted this in the fall (not from chris) and this is what came up this year. The leaves are so tight together and not uniform in size-anybody have issues with this one?
