Re: Sending Good Wishes to Phyllis (GrannyNanny)
I too drifted to Facebook. Pia shared this post there. I so used to enjoy seeing all of your seedling photos. Inspiring but I wasn't ready to take that on at the time. I started making my own crosses and raising seedlings 5 yrs ago. Thanks for planting the idea early on. Wishing you all the best as ...

ROHS Summer Tour Changes
Hi everyone - I'm posting this here as well as Facebook in the hopes of maximum converage. It will be on the ROHS website, and I'll be emailing members I have current email addresses for. We'll be calling those that have reserved lunches as well. Mother nature has plans of her own as we are all awar...

Re: Exciting, Unexpected Surprise
Very nice, Phyllis!! 8-) Looks like you accidentally got what a lot of people are trying for with the red. Yours has almost as much red as 'Almost'. Pretty neat!! :D I like both 'Cherry Kiss' and 'Rhubarb Daquiri'. I'll also be interested in how long the yellow holds. Looks like it's staying yellow ...

Re: 2011 Iowa Hallson Reunion
I'd love to be able to get to MI for the Hallson get-together there - Linda & I had a great time there last year!! :D But... too much going on this year to make that trip. Just got back from MA it seems like a couple of days ago and Lee will be picking me up tomorrow to head to WI for the Midwest co...

Re: Anyone heard from Jeff Miller yet about the Skaggs aucti
My understanding is that once everyone has paid for what they won,
then the buyer will be notified by the donator. I received an email
from Carol Brashear a couple of days ago that my check had been
received. I believe she's handling that part of the auction.

Re: How to get new sport to marketplace?
I thought the theory about the middle layer showing through was interesting.
I'd never heard that before. I'll be interested to know what they find out about the white veining.

PLEASE READ - BENEFIT FOR BRIAN AND VIRGINIA SKAGGS Everyone's story is a little different of how they came to love our favorite plant, the Hosta. As our passion for the plant grew, we reached out and found there were others who shared that passion. Although we do not expect it to happen, we all fi...

Re: How to get new sport to marketplace?
I wondered if anyone would remember me mentioning Tony Wong/me never finding a sport in Omaha.  It's kind of an out of body kind of experience when you google something and find yourself. In Bob Solberg's talk on ploidy at Winter Scientific part of the discussion was about Dr. Ben ...

Re: How to get new sport to marketplace?
Good to see it written out, Chris. I know you know how it works. I'll be interested in reading your article, Jim. The only sport that I had that I thought was cool was a wide margined division of Regal Splendor. 2 leaves/one division - in the deepest shaded of my garden. I couldn't NOT look at it ev...

Re: Has your garden ever been on tour?
This summer was the first time my garden was seen in its new location. Too much rain in the spring and early summer before. I just moved it to its current location last fall. I was a bit stressed trying to get it ready for the MRHS convention. Much better a couple of weeks later when I hosted the Io...

I've been a member of the Russ O'Harra society here in central Iowa since 2003. Have [had] been a member of Shady Choice [eastern NE/western IA] since 2002, but didn't get my dues sent in this year. Planning to join the Harshbarger group [Cedar Rapids, Iowa City] next year. ROHS only meets 3 ...

It's an interesting subject, Dirk.
Bob Solberg is going to be giving a talk on ploidy at the Winter Scientific meeting in January.
It will be interesting to hear his perspective on the subject.
