Re: Mixing Daylilies and Daffodils
I plant spring bulbs, Asiatic Lilies, and Oriental lilies with my daylilies. I liked the design because the daylily leaves cover the foilage of the bulbs and I always have blooms in the area. I even go one step further. I plant zinna seeds around the daylilies so I have blooms into the fall coming u...

Not an expert. But my ritual is......Spread epsom salt, unused coffee grounds, miracle gro acidic fert. Because it is our rainy season I just spread these things dry through the garden. Top all that off with leaf mold that I gathered from last fall.

Re: Deer Alert
Please update if it works. I get herds that come to my garden to feast. I have tried everything from 8' fence, to lights, and water sprays. They still manage to ignore everything and come to eat my gardens down. I get so discouraged sometime.

I forgot about that one. I had it for 5 years it was slow and late to rise I thought it might need more shade. I moved it to more shade and it died.
I hope your return it is a pretty little thing.

Happy planting. I have picked up several locally as I find them. The larger plant give me better survival. I have not had many survive that I have ordered. They are just to small. My local nursery sell gallon size for 7.00.

Re: My Iris
plantaholic, yes I got all the plants moved. It was not easy. I had so many hostas and even some bushes that I could not bring myself to just cut down so I dug them up also and put them in temp beds until I could get the garden areas ready for them.

How about some Pics
Last year we had a scorching hot Summer and a mild winter. With such strange weather for my area I have had good success with my Hercs. Also, with the advise from Chris and many here I think I have found the right soil and place to have success. They are now in my semi-Shady, garden that because of ...

Re: Get Going!!!
I wish you could send me some of your rain. My Hercs all survived the Winter so I am doing the happy dance.
I have not seen Rio in person yet but saw it on the net. I will see if my local Nursery gets it. They bring in 3 new ones every year now.

Re: Funny customer call
Thanks Pia, Chris I never water this time of year because of all our Spring rain. I did put both of them in a dry area so maybe they will be Okay. It is in the driveway bed that I am trying to get some color and the deer do not seem to want to eat geranium. I never cut my roots either. I dig a hole ...

Pia do you know which one you purchased? I purchased both that Chris had. Dark Reiter and Elizabeth Ann. I put them both in a dry bed that gets about 4 hours of sun.

Close to the house it could be the rabbits. They are eating the ones close to my house and the deer are taking care of my other Hostas.

Re: True blue ???
I would like to throw in another observation that soil may also make the difference. I do not have the money to invest in some of the newer blues so most of what I have are older ones that I have had for years. When I moved I dug up most of my hostas and Halcyon and June were my stand ins for my des...

He also had a very good interview this week and was told he was the "top candidate to date" for the position, with a starting salary about 20% more than he was making. :D Things can happen for a reason! That is just what I was thinking. My Mom told me that "For the Better" stuff and I said "Oh Sure...
