Tree Peony Question

Hi! A Co-worker of mine said she has a gorgeous yellow tree peony that got one big white bloom with a red center, and all the other blooms were yellow, like they are supposed to be. The plant is 5 years old at least, and has never done this. Does anyone have an explanation for this??
Thanks, Rox

Re: Need an opinion

Well, I can tell you what I did about 6 years back. My husband has a co-worker that bought a brand new condo. He asked if I would plant out the East side of his house for him. This is a neighborhood that has an association. They have rules. Everyones front yard is identical. same trees, same shrubs,...

Re: 2011 Iowa Hallson Reunion

Marlys, July 23rd is Ok with me, but I will have to change motel reservations I made for the 30th, and Dale already asked for that day off work and was approved, so He will have to change that as well.
I guess I will wait for input from others to see if that day is a go or not! :)

Re: 2011 Iowa Hallson Reunion

In your original post, you said Aug. 31st. That's why I said it's a Wed.! Because it is! :D

Do whatever you have to, but Sunday won't work well for me, but if it does for others, so be it!

Marlys, I plan to be there, but July 24th is a Sunday and Aug. 31st is a wednesday. A Saturday date would work out best for most folks.

OK I'll get in this time around. :P Whoever gets my name, don't bother trying to find/look at my Hosta list. It hasn't been updated in years. Just send something you would like in your garden.

Don't you mean Grand Tiara is smaller in size? I just read this and was confused.
either way, any Tiara if it's happy, is bigger than "little" in size

Linda, I just might show up. I usually try to make it--great group of folks.
We have had so much "stuff" going on this year ( I know, so do you!) that I was going to write it off, but I may see you that day after all!! :D

Re: Blue Ivory vs First Frost

Hi! Haven't been to forums in awhile, but read this post. I can't get why you are so worried about choosing between similar cultivars, Blue Ivory, First Frost, El Nino....... When you started out with saying you chose between 'Paradigm' and 'Brother Stefan' . Both are distinctly different, and I wou...

Re: AHS AUCTION CHANGES IN CLOSING BIDDING

Yep, the rich will all win! :D Hosta Library auctions have had this "5 minutes after the last bid" thing going on for awhile now. Has nothing to do with the AHS auction, IMHO. It's just the auction program that is there, and that's it. Bid wisely, and with a bit of discipline. Hope we all get what w...

Reldon, at least you didn't plant a Blue Lightning where a deceased Great Ex used to be and proclaim the following spring that your Great Ex you thought was dead came back up streaked!!!! LOL
But, I am with Marlys...I wouldn't have come clean on the whole thing, either!! :D

Re: A question on types of hostas

Good replies! I might add, if someone is trying to ID an unknown plant, I always ask if it sets seed pods. Fortunei-type Hostas rarely set seed, but they also have a high "sporting" percentage, compared to other Hosta families. That is why the Fortunei group is so huge. I see so many people get exci...

Re: Hallson's Get-Together 2009

I'd like to thank everyone who came here yesterday. What a nice crowd!! I never did count heads, but I'd guess at about 40 people. There was 53 Hostas in the swap! :D The day went off without a hitch, and it made all the work I went to preparing for it worthwhile. Thank You to all the folks who brou...
