Rose of Sharon

Does anyone else have problems with their rose of sharon seeding all over the place????? If so, do you have a good way to control it? I have 2 bushes and the area around them is fairly heavily mulched and I STILL get reseeding. It is an every day job to keep them pulled  Help!

When my pulmonaria starts to look ratty, I cut it back almost to the ground and get a fresh set of leaves. This is only my second year for brunnera- I may try the same thing if it starts to look bad also. Happy gardening! Susan

I was wondering the same thing, Jane! I have a redbud that is only 3 years old and all of it's little leaves are all crunchy from the freeze earlier this week. Guess we'll just have to put on our patience hats!

Chris- For information on perennials, I use a book called "Botanica The Illustrated A-Z of Over 10,000 Garden Plants". It rarely lets me down when I look something up. It has the genus Osteospermum but not the cultivar Lavendar Mist. It does state that the plant is indigenous to So. Africa and gives...

Dee- I also use tomato cages. I cut the bottom ring off with wire cutters so they are wider. I too live in the Midwest and I think this works really well. Lots cheaper than some of the hoops sold specifically for peonies!
