Wow! Thanks for all the help! Will the liquid sandpaper work on non painted surfaces? The table I want to work on isn't painted but does have a somewhat shiny surface. It might be easier to get into all the cracks and crevices, especially on the legs, with something liquid. I gotta get this project ...

Gorgeous, Caliloo! Is it a hybrid tea, shrub rose, or what? It looks like it is both pink and yellowish. I really like it!

OED- Not too late at all! Would I use paint that is actually called primer or any white paint? I thought the main reason to use it was to make the colors stand out more..... Thanks for the advice :D

Painting wooden furniture

I have a project in mind but need some advice. I want to paint wooden ladderback chairs and a table with white paint as a base coat and then paint designs on both with different colors of paint. Questions- Do I need to sand the wood first to get better results with the white paint? And, after the pr...

Gramush- I know what you mean...... I spent the day today doing fall clean up and I felt sad too. It was such a gorgeous day here in eastern Iowa and I hated to say "good bye for now" to all my pretty plants!

I really like this plant! True, it rambles but I find it easy to pull out. I tried it with hostas when I first bought it and it didn't do very well. So, I moved it to the south side of my home and it is thriving! So, in my experience, anyway, it does better with a little more sun. Hope this helps :P

I take the easy way out and it worked great for me this year (my first). I mow over the leaves, just once cause I am too lazy to do it more than that  and wet them down every 6 inches or so as was mentioned. I put grass clippings in and bury kitchen waste (so the critters don't get it). My pil...

Suggestions for a climber in zone 5?

Hello all- my neighbor has asked my advice and I want to give him good information. He built an arbor and wants to plant it with climbing roses. The area will be in full sun for the majority of the day. I am not sure if he has any color preference. Any suggestions for a new gardener so he has succes...

That would be my guess too. I have one on my deck. Give it plenty of water and sunshine and it will bloom for you until the first frost. I bet you could overwinter indoors but have never tried as my kitty-cats would dig in it :???:
