i think they are all great choices... im partial to Christmas Pageant.... :wink:

Tokodama... interesting... I've enjoyed this hosta but it's a slow grower, so I wish you luck with that choice.. it's great but slow.

Winterlightening is a 'reluctant' breeder. Can be tough to set seed on.

i can see not having space for seedlings... i can see not haveing time for things like a yard with grass needing constant maintenance... i can not see not having time for seedlings.... interesting. ENJOY... looks like fun stuff.

i don't have that one.. but i do have H. Pole cat... still unfurling.. only diff is that pole cat seems to have some 'grass clipping' flecks in the white center. grows like a weed. Margin color is about the same.

this one was a sleeper for me too.... when I had it (sold it to a couple... through in the house too...). Had this hosta for years and years.... with no....notice of it... then one year.. about same range as Hank... It leaped... It also got darker... or maybe just more of it to view made it look dar...

Homer your story is soooo reminicant of my hosta disaster a few years back.... new beds, no mulch early warm spring and then a hard freeze for a week.... I'm a big fan o mulch now.

don't think it's deer, could be but i'm guesing not. more likely rabbits or ground hogs... those suckers are plentiful near the beds. Well you can find the silver lining... it looks like it would be a good time to add some mulch or maybe lay down some compost or maybe some soaker hoses.... lots of room to work.... :roll:
