The links within the forum have been updated to all direct to perennialreference now.

Sorry but when doing this some of the posts from earlier today are gone. But hopefully this helps now.

New domain for the forums

Sorry for the big change, but I had to move the forums to a different domain - perennialreference.com There are a few reasons for this, but mainly the software that runs our shopping cart program needs to be updated and if I do that the forums will be broken and won't work at all. For a few years I'...

Re: Is there a Hanky Panky sport where the edge doesn't chan

I still have this plant, but in all these years I don't think it has become any larger. But then again I didn't really try. I bet if I put it into a pot and started growing some roots on it then it would grow. The area it is planted has been largely dug and sold so there are only some scattered thin...

Sorry but it really doesn't jump out at me as something I could name. Sure is growing great, though.

Re: Can anyone recognize this one?

Things are so dry here that the flowers on my Jaws aren't developing well, but the color and stripe pattern appears to be about the same. I'll try to remember getting a picture when I'm out there.

You can definitely see the similarities. Nice looking sport - amazing how consistent your plant is.

The only thing I grow that looks like that is Hosta 'Jaws'. Not sure if the flowers match that one or not.

Re: HVX on my favorite hosta?

Those are all negative. Hurray! So it is just some environmental damage - maybe a little frost damage, or possibly an overwatering/drainage issue, or even fertilizer burn if you use any. A general purpose fungicide, preferably a copper based one, could help to clean up the brown spots in the future....

Re: Does this look like Ivory Coast?

Yes, it certainly looks like it will be Ivory Coast. When they are young, just like the related Liberty, they just don't look like much more than a slightly wide margined Sagae. But in time the mature coloration will take hold and you will know it is correct.

When there are only a few in existence, yes, they can be expensive. If it had been tissue cultured so there are thousands available then no.

Re: HVX

Hello, If it is just this one leaf showing that distortion then I don't think it is HVX. Keep an eye on the newer leaves (I suspect by now a lot more leaves are showing) as they will be able to show you better. Often when just the first outer leaf has something like this it is damage as the eye was ...

Re: HVX on my favorite hosta?

Welcome to the forums. Blue Ivory is going to be a tough one to diagnose by looking at the leaves until HVX reaches a really high concentration and you start to see a lot of distortion. Brown spots and meltout aren't signs of virus but rather fungus or bacteria. Those things grow and thrive on const...

Re: Idiots On Shore Roatan 2018 Ep 2 Holy Saturday

Brian and I visited Roatan off a cruise ship this winter and I constantly was thinking of you two while there! Our visit was on a particularly rainy day but we had a guide drive us around to visit some gardens and do some sightseeing. Wanted to visit the beach but it was just not that kind of day. T...

I agree, that is very nice. Great to see this one have so much potential. I can imagine getting something nice and thick like a good blue into this one could be good. Bob is probably working on that a lot. Thanks for sharing.
