Re: New form of wildlife or alien?

Well, not really, b/c if it's a host, then I would suppose the host life is lost sustaining the little buggers as they grow are hatch or whatever?

Re: This little piggy went to the market!

I heard or read that the 'winter' home can be huge( like from 8' deep and 10-20 feet long  ? Think shallow 1 car garage here :o ), and even threaten the integrity of a home foundation. Fortunately, the older one (not in the pic) had taken up in the last few years under the old shed out back, an...

Re: This little piggy went to the market!

There is sooooooo much construction going on around us, that all the critters are looking for new digs and since I keep a pretty nice 'natural' area, they seem think that it's only NATURAL for them to be a part of it! The last 2 days, I've come out back to find the pappa sitting in the platform feed...

Re: Pumpkins?

Well, the vines aren't growing any more, the pumpkins are. I think the one plant is dying, as it's just not looking good, the sun has scalded the base of it, b/c it's been so danged hot!

Re: Pumpkins?

Oh yes, she's loved fruit and veggies since she was tiny. Peas are #1, followed by watermelon, pumpkin, tomatoes, potatoes, uh...pumpkin..let's see...basically any veggie or fruit. The only thing she can't have but absolutely is uncontrollable over is cotton candy! I swear, she's patient with everyt...

Re: New form of wildlife or alien?

Oh gosh! Someone will know, but not me! I'm thinking I remember the rice being either eggs of it's own or another creature that uses it as a host for it's own eggs? Not sure though....probably way off base!

Re: Is this heirloom tomato ripe?

Ah, yes. I've got too many planted again this year! Still have canned one from year before! But.... only 4 of these, 4 cherry size, 6 early girl and 12 beef steak. Or it might be 12 early girl and 6 beef, not sure yet! And of course the tags are way under the plant! I'm afraid with this...

Is this heirloom tomato ripe?

This is an heirloom ( I think it's brandywine, but not sure). I've never grown them and it started out a pinkish color and now is redish but has the green stripes in the grooves. When are they ready for picking? Anyone?

Re: Pumpkins?

Well, she/he is continuing to grow! I'm hoping dd enjoys carving them up! As for the seeds/meat, I'll have to ask my resident kitty! She's the one that crawls into them to eat the insides out! :D I've lost her kitten pics when she as actually IN the pumpkins, but here's one from about 5 years ago, e...

Yes, she's a sweetie, I met online 10 years ago! We've never met in person, but have been freinds since and never far from one another in heart and soul! She knows me (too well sometimes) and like you, tends to 'mother' me when it comes to health and safety! :D

Re: More pics of the GoldFinch

Put up a feeder sock and they'll come to your house Anne! And the more feeders the more finch! We had last year at one time, up to 42 on 4 feeders! What a fiasco that was. Many were fledgings, and hysterical to watch learn to fly in and eat! Even more fun if you get the finch feeders where they have...
