Re: Touch of Class look-alikes?
Thanks Chris for starting this thread and the rest of you for your posts. You just saved me a lot of money. I like Tof C so much I probably would have bought the other look-a-likes without realizing they were look-a-likes until I brought them home. I already have 2 Paradise Joyce and now know that O...

Re: Undulata - Univittata, Mediovariegata, Mediopicta, Varie
I found some pictures of undulatas in my photo album dating to the early 2000s. I've been slowly removing them from my gardens and replacing them with others of thicker substance as I mentioned earlier. I bought the undulatas and undulata univittatas in the late 70's, and divided them many times ove...

These undulatas look great. You don't want to see mine this time of year. They look like swiss cheese. I'm replacing some with hostas of greater substance.

Re: Hosta of the days -'Touch of Class' - post your pics
'Touch of Class' is a favorite of mine. I planted it in 2007 and this picture was taken on June 9 after a refreshing rainfall. I planted Frosted Mouse Ears to the right and Mighty Mouse to the left. The mice have been slow to increase.

Re: Hosta of the Day - Sugar and Spice
I don't have 'Sugar and Spice' but I think I could fit it in somewhere as it doesn't look like it's a big plant.
Paul, what are the hostas surrounding it? You always do such a nice job combining your hostas as well as other plant material.

Re: Hosta of the Day "Sun Power" - Post Your Pics
I bought my Sun Power in June 2007 after I saw it on Papou's website. This is the best picture of SP that I have and it was taken on June 18. I love the v-shape of this hosta. Mine never gets as yellow as some of the other SPs pictured here because it only gets filtered light. The clump also becomes...

Tigger, thanks for affirming the assumption to my question and very aptly put that the central vein is counted as zero.

Re: Hosta Identity Crisis
Redcrx, thanks, for the pictures of your Honeybells. I'm convinced that the hosta I have is Honeybells. Your flower picture is identical to what I saw on my Hb. I meant to take a picture of the flowers, got busy and when I went back they had dried up. I counted 8 vein pairs if you don't include the ...

Re: Hosta Identity Crisis
Thanks Chris. I'm moving Hb to a bigger spot . Mark, thanks for replying. I moved Bressingham Blue, which was growing in front of Blue Angel. I was surprised that BB got as big as it did. As I had it planted in front of Blue Angel, the two were too much the same blue colour. As well I have 3 Krossa ...

Hosta Identity Crisis
NOT!! When I bought this hosta (in front of Bressingham Blue) in 2007 it was labelled 'Royal Standard'. Another of my old hosta was recently identified as RS, so this hosta is not RS. The flowers of this hosta are tinged with lilac. RS's flowers are white. I've done a bit of research and think it mi...

Re: Hosta of the Day 'Sitting Pretty' - Post Your Pics
ViolaAnn, I don't have this hosta BUT I'm wondering about the first five years ... did the one eye get thicker before the second eye was produced? If one were to look at the parentage of this hosta would thickening of the first eye be a requesit before the production of a second eye? OR am I overthi...

Re: Hosta of the Day 'Remember Me' - Post Your Pics
I bought 2 'Remember Me' last August and planted them in 2 different growing conditions because I had heard it was difficult to grow. One withered and died because it was dug out by some animal overwinter. This picture was taken on May 22, 2012. In hindsight I should have planted the 2 RM together a...

Re: Hosta of the Day 'Regal Splendor' - Post Your Pics
ViolaAnn, I just measured the height of my Regal Splendor. I have a similar growth situation to you. These 4 hostas compete for nutrients with spruce tree roots. I have 'Cutting Edge' in another section of the same bed: Regal Splendor: 18 1/2" high (My notes say it should get 30" high) The tallest K...

Re: Hosta of the Day 'Regal Splendor' - Post Your Pics
My picture didn't download the first time because I tried to improve the picture quality but then I was sending too many KBs. Sorry. The quality of the jpeg is now "high" instead of "maximum".

Re: Hosta of the Day 'Regal Splendor' - Post Your Pics
I planted Regal Spendor in 2007 and surrounded it with 3 Krossa Regals believing it would grow a bit higher than the KRs. To my disappointment that hasn't happened. If you look closely at RS you will see that I had to cut away a number of leaves due to the drought we had this summer.

Re: Daily Hosta - 'Pandora's Box'
I found another pic of PB from earlier in the year (May 27). The amount of whiteness in the leaves could be the product of progress/age during the growing season ???

Re: Daily Hosta - 'Pandora's Box'
RocknHosta, That's a gorgeous Pandora's Box. Love the flowers. This is the only good picture I have of PB taken on June 10 this year. It's been in this location in quite a bit of shade since 2008. The slugs really like it. The leaves look like Swiss cheese right now. I forgot to use a copper collar....
