Re: O'Brien's Hostas Season's End Sale

The choices weren't all mine, I'm splitting a bunch of them with my cousin, I'll leave them in the pots and divide in the Spring. Thanks for the feedback and wisdom, I would have made the mistake of putting Sum Of All in a sunnier location.

O'Brien's Hostas Season's End Sale

I'll be headed over to O'Brien's Nursery in Granby CT today. This is their last weekend of the year and everything is 20% off. I'm thinking I can get myself into lots of trouble over there.

Re: Labels

I think I'm going to try a Sharpie Paint Marker before investing in label capability. :)

Re: Labels

Thanks for the responses. I didn't know you needed a laser printer, I only have an ink jet. I'll look into the other suggestions, thanks!

Labels

I bought a bunch of zinc labels, the kind with 2 wire legs, and wrote on them with a Sharpie, but they are already fading. I've seen references to using address labels printed with a computer as a more lasting solution. Does anyone do that?

Re: Another New Bed

I pretty much stick with larger, reputable garden centers, so I'm not worried. The stuff I get cheap is cheap because it hasn't moved and they don't want to carry it over. I'm always amazed that coveted named hostas find their way to the bargain pile, I guess real hosta lovers are few and far betwee...

I lucked out on Spilt Milk, I found one on sale at a garden center, it was about $8. and had multiple eyes, so I divided it.

Yes, you can't beat how fast S&S grows! I tried to choose varieties with some sun tolerance for this location which does get a modest amount of sun.

Another New Bed

Actually an old bed, reclaimed from a nondescript perennial with a massive root system that had spread all over. This strip along the garden fence has gotten increasingly shady as an oak behind me has grown, so.... The corner is anchored by Sum and Substance, then Spilt Milk, Dragon Wings, Pizzazz, ...
