Re: Small/mini hostas

I like the mini/small but don't have too many. I really like Dixie Chickadee except it is fast to change to all green and I'm constantly removing the green sections. I also like Cracker Crumb.

Re: Vivacious

I separated a very streaky section last year and it is again very streaky this year. My original has a couple of sections of all green that I will separate soon.

Re: Weedlings in the garden - are you saving some?

I have more weedlings this year than I have ever had. They are under every where.

Re: New garden space

I'm glad you posted updates. I'm in the processes of making a new garden space. I'm hoping it has enough sun, it is very shady at the moment but the sun will rise higher and I'm hoping will shine on this spot at least for a little while, late afternoon.

Love the T-shirt. I hadn't seen it when you posted in 2013. (How is it that the years go by so quickly?) How did the granddaughter respond?

I did a lot of crosses with Ringtail last summer and am enjoying watching the seedlings grow. Thanks for posting yours.

Re: Arctic blast on its way

Doesn't sound like a lot of fun, Tigger David. Hope the hostas can survive with minimal damage. I know the spring we went back to Michigan, everyone was apologizing for the hostas being small because they had been set back by winter snow, yet to me they still looked larger than mine which had been u...

Hallson 2015 Summer Hosta Swap

ZZTOPSOIL, all 12 hosta you sent me last summer are coming up this spring. I'll send pictures when they get a little bigger. (And it stops raining!)

Re: Hosta 'Purple Heart'

I bought one several summers ago. I first saw it at one nursery in a gallon pot for about $28, then went to another nursery (both in Portland, OR) and bought it for $2.99 in a 4" pot. It's done well and set seeds that I have grown, but I never could find anything on it's background.

Re: Bare rooting hosta question

What would happen if you 'root pruned' at this time, while you are trying to save them. Cut off the worse of the bark. Nurseries root prune I don't know if they do on hostas but on other perennials. I hope you have success.

I have a book about landscaping at the Disney's. They do a lot of plantings to keep things fresh.
It looks really nice. If I smell petunias, I'm transported back to standing in lines at Disneyland.
