Bev the best way to store daylily seeds is in a baggie in the veggie bin at 32 degrees. They're less likely to sprout then. When you are ready to sprout them take them out of the fridge. Mix water with peroxide at 10% strength. That is one part peroxide to 9 parts of water. Soak them in this till th...

Hi Charla and everyone else, I generally read the hosta forum and run off to other things neglecting to stop by this forum. Recently Ed reminded me it was here :D I generally plant up to 6 weeks before a freeze is expected. Once the ground has frozen root growth slows down a lot. I've got about 1000...

Lynn tell your non hosta friends that your plant is the stuff that dreams are made of! I'd take out a second mortgage to get a piece of it!! Congratulations on such a beautiful plant!

I have the following Lakeside hostas:

Black Satin
Cha Cha
Cupcake
Kaleidoscope
Shore Master

the only one I was sorely disappointed in was Black Satin. Maybe it will survive the winter and look bigger next year.

We're under a winter storm watch for Saturday into Sunday. At the moment we're under a lake effect advisory  Not sure there's any real difference! It's snowing outside, winds are tearing things up. Yesterday they blew so hard they brought a power line down and we had no heat for over an hour. B...

Devon Green was the last to go dormant here this year. It finally just admitted winter had arrived.

Wanda I'm seeing something similar with all my plants, hostas and others hanging on long after they should have gone dormant. We've been in the 20's and 30's this week and all are not dormant yet.

We're at 24 degrees this morning and we've had snow dustings twice now. I now know where Ice Age Trail gets it's name since it still hasn't begun to go dormant! Some of mine (like Spilt Milk) have done their vanishing act but a good number are golden but still up and about. A few like Ice Age Trail,...

Which is the right forum?

Hi guys,

I have some hosta seeds I want to list for trade and I thought I had put them in the right place but got a pm telling me it was the wrong place.

Could someone tell me the right place to post that so I don't goof up in the future?

Thanks!

Yours looks much better than mine Charla! I've never seen it at 10" !! If it dies I doubt I'll look to replace it.

Charla is it any taller? I need glasses to see mine. I should say my two since in the process of moving it looking for a better location it separated into two plants. Neither is showing any improvement. I'll be very surprised to see them show up next year.

Hello Charlene, I got LBS this past June. Nothing but a pain! It grew to a massive (NOT) 3.5" tall this summer. When I complained to the seller he said not to worry it would grow. I wrote to Mary Chastain who said it should be bigger and that there was a problem with the plant I got. I suspect a bad...

Hi Ann, I have to check those. We had really strong winds last week (gust to 41 mph) and the pods on Devon Green were ripped off. Out of 3 I found 2. I've been so busy getting ready for winter I haven't had time to check on KS and a few others that still have pods. October Red had blooms the last I ...
