Garden pics from a rainy summer
Hi everyone -- just went out to take pics of my lush garden. It has loved the rain, but then so have the weeds! Explanations with the pics -- Phyllis

August and November Health Update
Hi everyone -- Haven't been on here since I posted in June. Just wanted to add that I am still off the Kadcyla chemo, because the tumor marker number is still going down! I'm down to 63 as of a week ago, so very close to the "55 or under" that is considered "normal". I'm about to post pics of my gar...

Re: A Garden Visitor
Jim -- what a great pic. That is real photographic serendipity, for sure! I've never seen an Egret land in a garden, unless there was a lake there too. Guess he thought that the fishpond was good enough hunting to make it worth a return trip. Phyllis

Re: Health Update
Thanks, all you wonderful "seedy friends", for all your support and good wishes. I'm feeling great -- except that I tripped on the hose yesterday and took a header, landing right on my left knee, so I am limping and gimping around the house today and not doing ANY gardening! Be careful around those ...

Health Update
Hi Hallsons friends -- I've been absent from this forum for a few weeks -- life has just been too busy for me to sit down and visit online. However, I've had a few requests for a health update, so here it is. Basically, I feel great! Some of you know that since December I've been on a new, targeted ...

Re: Welcome to spring in MN
I've been down with the Virus from Hell since a week ago today, and am still not over it. I went outside yesterday for a brief period to move my potted hostas (for the garden club sale) onto the deck, where they will be safe from the marauding bunnies, who have been making a salad bar out of the nub...

Amen to that! I feel as if I've been on an extended travel adventure, and it's been more enjoyable to have it lengthened out to three months' worth of excitement. Thanks to both of you for your constantly upbeat smiles and faces, and for Jim's incredibly literate travelogues. Bless you both -- Phyllis

Welcome to spring in MN
Just as a little divergence from Jim's wonderful safari with us through Tanzania, here is what we woke up to this morning. We only got about 3-4 inches; sixty miles north of us it was 17-19 inches, and at Duluth -- on the shores of Lake Superior -- it was over 20! Most of our snow melted today, and ...

Re: Idiots Bahati Ya Mjinga E30 Nyamuswa, Pt. 7 Two Lead
Wow! What a history lesson. Isn't it amazing what little we "westerners' know about the history of continents like Africa? It would take a lifetime of study to really get to know it, and a memory better than mine to memorize all the confusing-sounding names. Thanks, Jim and Sheila, for opening our e...

They "eyes" have it, for sure! I think Sheila is a wonder woman for thinking of doing the photo shoots with all the kids, even though the reaction to her "funny face" was somewhat subdued! THAT is what makes that following pic so funny, in juxtaposition with Sheila and her crazy facial expression! T...

What a wonderful set of visits. We, along with the two of you, are privileged to be a part of their lives. Those mattresses represent luxury far beyond what you or I would consider luxury. A good reality check for all of us. Phyllis

Very inspiring! It is good to see various organizations working together to effect change. We have sponsored a Tanzanian girl from Arusha through World Vision since she was about eight. She lives with her grandmother, both parents having died of AIDS. She is now 17 and almost finished with high scho...

Ditto to what Rosemarie said. A great series of pics -- and you can have those ice cubes and drinks any time, but a leopard and reedbuck encounter is a one time thing! Thanks -- Phyllis

Signs of Spring in Minnesota
I just got a series of photos from a friend in Germany of flowers that are now blooming in her garden. The garden itself, seen all at once, is still a pretty soggy mess, but then there are the patches of crocus, the snowdrops, the thrusting fern fronds, etc. That got me to thinking about what we're l...

Jim -- You must have some built-in filters in your camera, and accidentally pushed one instead of the 'delete'! Whatever you did, it makes a very interesting photo! Thanks, as always, for all the education we get along with your photos. Both are truly remarkable. Thanks for everything. Phyllis

Yes, a lady indeed! Those shots of her langorously stretched along a branch made me think of the multitudinous shots of women posing on leopard -- pardont me, cheetah -- skin rugs. So much nicer to have the Cheetah INSIDE the skin! Lovely, lovely photos. Phyllis

SO many wonderful animal photos! I am beginning to feel as if I've been right beside you on the seat of that safari vehicle! Thanks again for taking us all along for the ride. Phyllis
