Re: Which of these hostas will tolerate sun
I don't have many of these, but I have Allegan Fog in almost full sun and it is growing vigorously and isn't burning. I have Praying Hands in quite a bit of sun as well and it's gotten quite large and really nice. I'm not sure if it's due to the sun or it's age, but I tend to think it's the sun it g...

Re: Daily Hosta - 'Pandora's Box'
I was surprised when I started visiting this forum and people considered this one tough to grow. This one was divided in half already and moved on top of that. Still doing good.

Re: Sun and Heat-Resistant Hostas in My Garden
Chris, I agree with you on Rainbow's End. That is one that continues to really impress me. It looks just as good now as it did earlier in the season. Mine gets more shade, but a fair amount of sun after 2:00pm. I think I added this one to my garden two years ago. I wouldn't be surprised to see this ...

Re: Daily Hosta #1 - 'Ice Age Trail' - Add your pics
I have not quite made up my mind on this one. It's growing pretty well for me despite the weird spring setting everything back. Mine had some leaves that were mostly green although there was still some streaking in them. I'll keep an eye on those, but didn't want to remove them quite yet. I thought ...

Re: Sun and Heat-Resistant Hostas in My Garden
By far, 'Invincible' has been the all around best performer for me in full sun. It doesn't look it's greatest in this picture. It was hit really hard with frost earlier and the leaves came out sort of crunched up. Now it is looking nearly perfect, although I haven't taken a new pic.(I also got rid o...

Re: Hosta of the day -'Whirlwind' - post your pics
It's at least ten years old. I may have divided it once and it has been moved from one place to another. My previous place was heavily wooded with deciduous trees and had soil that was really rich with natural compost/leaf mulch. It has always been in a spot where it gets more sun. I don't fertilize...

Re: Hosta of the day -'Whirlwind' - post your pics
Mine was ugly this year. It got hit with frost a few times...then the hot, dry spell. I don't divide often, but this one needs it. This was taken earlier in the spring, so it hadn't had enough time to stress itself out in all the sun yet. Normally it does really well in the sun, but there was just t...

Re: Dead Shade Hosta Suggestions
I recommend 'Northern Exposure', but any will work. My first hosta garden was in very deep shade right in the woods under mature red oaks. Virtually no sunshine got in. My plants thrived there, I'm sure in part because the soil was so rich with years and years of natural compost from the oaks. Enric...

Three years, but it was moved from our other place. I'm guessing it's probably about 8-9 years old.
