HI--If you look at Gorden tour 11, 2nd photo, you might be able to make out today's area, at the top of the grass area.

Hi All--Here are two photos from 2005 of the area that is the on the upper edge of our south lawn. The first shows the steps that lead up to what we now call our Friendship Garden. The second is the area just north of those steps.

Pia--Your bench is coming up in a few days. So, try to catch your breath until then and you'll be able to sit down and rest. :) :)

It seems that everything here is "up hill." This part of our garden is about 12-14 M (40 ft.) of elevation above the lower section of the strip of plants next to our driveway that I showed at the beginning of the tour.

Hi All--In the far back corner of our south lawn area we have the start of an area that we call our nursery. It has a compost pile where we put our newspapers, magazine, cardboard, etc. because it takes longer for those items to break down. The high board walls around it that you see in the first ph...

Hi--Here is a shot of the Gnomes when they were still hanging out in this bed. Being Gnomes, and somewhat shy, we never know when we might be lucky enough to spot one or both of them but the male has recently been spending a lot of his time seeing that the Friendship Garden plants are protected.

Hi Pat--Thanks again for all your nice comments. The hosta is Titanic and the grass is Hakonechloa macra Aureola. I really like the Hak Maks and we also have a Hakonechloa macra Albo-striata. They are listed as zone 5, I think, but have done fine in our zone 4b-5a garden.

Hi All--These photos are the last that I'll be showing of the beds in our south lawn. This bed had 4 mature trees in it up until about 10 years ago. At that time we cut down three of the trees, leaving two of them with 6' tall stumps. We then had a chain saw artist (yes, there are such people) conve...

Hi Pat--That is a plant we use quite a bit here. It is a ligularia dentata, either Desdemona or Othello. I can't tell them apart. I really like their red/purple stems and red/purple under-leaf. They will self seed a little, just enough that you can spread them if you want to. They have yellow flower...

Hi All--In our south lawn area we have a bed that is about 6' X 40'. For some odd reason we call it the "long bed". Here are a couple of photos from that bed taken in 2005. The first photo is of the center of the bed where there is a path made of round cement pieces.

Phylilis--It has taken a lot of time to get to where the garden is now. I won't use the word "work" because Betty and I do this because we enjoy it. The maintenance doesn't take as much time as most people assume because over the years we have tried to do a very thorough job of weeding. That, and th...
