Re: Daylily seedlings
I just read that purple daylilies look best (most saturated purple color) at 60 degrees--- now, that's not going to happen here~

Re: Daylily seedlings
The last one, Sherm's Seedling, bloomed here this summer also. It looked great! It also performed well for our friend Terri Jones in Florida. I tried using Mort Morss on it, but none of the attempts took, then again, with 90-100 degrees daily since May 1st, not much has taken. I thought Sherm's Seed...

Re: Daylily seedlings
S-5-B in the first series has a lovely substance and form.
In the third series, I love the one peach/pink, where the throat/eyezone red color bleeds gradually into the flower.

Re: Blooms for JULY 10
Very nice! I love LAURA HARWOOD, and have several seedlings from it. They bloom a bit later, extending the season (which passed peak unseasonably early this summer!) I really like your unidentified RED, especially as it has such a tiny 'heart' rather than a large throat, makes it a little different....

Re: Daylily seed pods
If you were going to go to any effort, I'd obtain some nice daylily seed crosses instead. The dropped seeds almost never seem to survive to blooming seedlings on their own, but it is certainly possible. Were there other daylilies in bloom in the area at the same time?

Re: When you buy streaker hosta..
I'm starting to develop an outlook, that the hosta should be easily identified or else it is too similar to something else anyway. I especially like those that brook no confusion, like June, Strip=tease, and you know the rest!

You know I love this reverse bitone with the gorgeous coloring! I am very happy to have seen it bloom in my garden this spring, thank you Ed! Hoping some of my crosses with it take, despite the temperatures in the 90's and over 105 today!

Gorgeous coloring, Ed, congratulations on this winner! BTW, I am pleased to report that S-198 and S-280 bloomed, on the same day. Photos later when uploaded. I took Mort Morss to S-280 and recip; did not take on first try, waiting to see if second day worked. Temperatures of 90-100 degrees are not c...

Re: John - is this Chanel 19?
Oh, no! Chanel #19 is purple! Looks a lot like its pod parent, Always Afternoon. darker eye and green throat.
Did I send you that yellow one? I don't really think so... no idea what it is, although somehow I want to guess at Imperial (something...) Any clues?

Re: Desperately need help saving Hosta!
I suggest repotting it, keeping moist but very well-drained. Rooting powder can't hurt. I've saved broken off hostas this way (w/o rooting hormone), although we don't have voles in this area, so far.
