Thousands! :o More pics, please! Well, that includes young seedlings. Hundreds is probably less of an exaggeration. Anyway, unfortunately I don't have many photos but I'll post a few old photos in a new thread. Just don't expect them to be as cool as these plants! And I promise to post photo...

Those are all very lovely Doris. The 'hellwhtburg' is very special. Is it dark on the back of the sepals? Contrast like this is lovely i think, and the form is just perfect. How many plants do you have? I am glad to hear that they do well in Tenn as you are practically a neighbor. :D Impatience, the...

They are plants from Northwest garden nursery. You can see the nice galleries here. Some of their stock plants are from Heronswood. We are now in a good situation in North America because growers who collected from Europe over the past decade or two have made great progress. http://www.northwestgard...

Impatience, the plants I have from Heronswood are good and they are from mail order. But it is always best to hand-select plants if you have the chance. Kellie's are certainly not typical, especially in the details. A few other sources are good as well. To give you an example, I went to a well-known...

Kellie and Doris. Don't waste any more time before you start a breeding program! Honestly, you have a great start there if you have interest in such things. You can be the next Ballard and Strangman. Of course just letting them procreate on their own will make some beauties too and is far less work....

Those are all wonderful! The pink double kellhell.20 is particularly impressive. That form and density on doubles isn't common. Beautiful!

More happy hellebore years to come! Great photos Doris. I love the first one, and it obviously isn't camera shy. :) Are the first and third photos of different flowers on the same plant or are they different plants?

Do not forget to grow plants for the larva to feed on, I grow a patch of dill just for the Swallowtails, milkweed family, for the Monarchs, etc Find out what food sources you need in your area, and you will have butterflies forever. I strongly agree here. This is the single most important thing I'v...

wow, you all are violent. :o still, an entertaining read though. i guess i'm in the minority but i kind of like the little guys. a couple of years ago I watched one take every leaf off most of my hepaticas in a matter of hours. they killed one of my best hostas that same year. but after reading this...

Nice one Andi. I really enjoy having different colors on the interior and exterior, especially on the nodding types. It gives a nice surprise when interacting with the flower up close. The interior blotching/veining is nice too.

More nice photos Doris. What kind of cyclamen is that? It has been wet there it seems but the plants seem happy! Dee I will certainly post some photos. It will be fun, but a good deal of time I'll be counting particular flower structures in each population to determine ratios in 'the name of science...

I'm not sure what the statute of limitations on babysat plants is, but 2 years sounds about right. haha You all are lucky to be able to drive and pick out such wonderful plants. I have to plant thousands of seed and hope some are keepers, but I'm going to make a trip to your neck of the woods next y...

That is sort of funny. The double white looks like it might stand for "Kellie, what the hell?" Thanks for sharing more Doris. That double red is a nice color, and your closeup shot shows the flower structure well.

that is a very interesting and beautiful flower. collecting the seed and planting it would be fun because though it will not come true, you may get similar results.... even improvements. these are short lived in my experience in zone 6/7. they don't like the hot summers so much that we have in the e...

this is a chronic problem in many areas. i've had some plants get it when the conditions seemed unlikely to promote the mildew. i would even purposely only water the roots etc.... some cultivars reportedly are more resistant than others and no doubt that will be a direction breeding/selection will n...
