Don't know if it helps or not, but my yard in our first home would flood every year, staying underwater sometimes 4-6 weeks. My hosta in that area came back each year, increasing in size, and I never lost one. I did not have any movement in that water thou. I would think the current would be the pro...

You know Jim, I do believe that if you were to compile all these NPOTD posts into a book, you would not only get rich, but also beat Mark to the bookstand! I'd buy one for sure. Thanks for the knowledge and entertainment.

Go for it Lucy! I've resorted to it this year on my streaked plants. I don't know how it is going to work out yet, but I just snapped those solid ones off. I am wondering thou if they will just send out solid shoots at the sides of the snapped off eye.

if you take care while you do it. Love your On Stage, mine just came out last week.

Ditto Dave. Been there to but with out the DH help, and only going a mile or so with them the second time. The best part is moving them around and picking where to put them into the ground. So much fun with choice after choice of leafed out color to work with. Enjoy your new home and Happy Anniversa...

I've got blues mostly in my shady corner. I do have a War Paint that looks cool in spring, then goes green/bluey later. There is also a nice Golden Friendship, a Thai Brass and Mings Treasure that bring in some color. The blues are huge, the yellows grow slower, but still are putting on weight final...

Hi Reldon, I just work too hard, or hardly work, depending on who you ask. I made some changes where we, our company works, so now I have time to get on line and play with what I love best. I'll see you here in July huh? I'm taking 3 days off to play for sure, convention is on my BD.

Reldon, Mary Ann is your girl. She helped Sammi with her leaves last year, and she won lots and lots of ribbons in the junoir part of the show. She also does judge helper duty, so she hears a lot of stuff that may help. And she has done the shows for a long time and won tons of ribbons on her leaves...

I'm sure it will be a wonderful plant. Of the few originators stock plants I have purchased, the Deckert's are the only people I have ever received a laminated card along with the purchase, stating a plants authentisity. I think they are pretty serious about the intros they have made. I also think t...

He is beautiful! We are owned by a Conure, Conner, and I could not imagine having a "real" parrot. We do have him in a large parrot cage, and he loves it! He was very tame at one time, but because of our lack of socialization with him, he is not as "friendly" as he once was. He is the best burglar a...

Sorry Thy, I took almost NO pics this year. It has been a very busy year, and the photography suffered! I don't believe I will even be growing seedlings this winter :( No free time at all. Last years babies are all tucked into the garden, and should be back next spring with luck and the diligent use...

Mary Ann is the Leaf Queen!!! She is right, shred them with the lawn mower first, and they will decompose faster. Last year I kept all mine in paper lawn waste bags along the side of the house. This spring, they were the same as I put them in there in the fall, but with a good mold built up. This ye...

Just 5 here for turkey day, but I am making a turkey, a prime rib, green beans, the soup and onion stuff, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, Bob Evans, as they are better tasting than mine, gravy, stuffing, a salad and rolls. Taylor bakes, this year a pumpkin pie, kinda from scratch, and an apple pie...

Tina, I have lost every potted hosta I ever leave out in my zone 5. I did move a hundred or so in Jan. one year and lost none that I know of. Last year I lost a very nice seedling "just leaving it out in the garden" I think, because I don't know why, that it died because it started to emerge in the ...

Very nice Dave! I have thought about doing something like this, but never have. I love hosta gardens that are laid out like patchwork quilts the best. It seems the effect is achived when using many of one type or shade in mass plantings and always looks cool.

Our cat gets soaking wet almost every day.
She likes to drink from water dripping in the sink.
Gets soaked every time, then comes and rubs up against you to get you to dry her off, LOl.
