I don't think I have caught this one in flower before but it showed-up today. Interesting dark spots on the edge of the flower.
This is a second flower on a different scape.

Re: Dark-flowered hostas
I was going to do a spread on rectifolia but I'll hunt for ventricosa and Holly's something relative. And a point of interest for me - the reds are hard to keep alive.

Here are a few I had in my garden this season. Miss Selene - a seedling from Art Wrede from Miss Angie. Miss Selene 0707180727b-2.jpg Seems similar to Miss Selene. Your clausa is a lot different than mine. And more interesting with the two tones.
Nice array.

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
The thought hit me that the branch might just be random. I have a Hoosier Harmony with a branched scape but I think it's random. But this branch looks like a "normal" branch - I have Snake Charmer with multiple branches that look just like this one. Well today I went out to get more photos and found...

Re: Seedling Flowers out of Art Wrede's Collection
Something a little bit different showed-up today. The tag said #114. I don't think I have seen it flower before because it is not a #114. (The #114 was given the name 'Otter Point' a few years ago.) The flower is wrong - it doesn't have the dark center. This is the original tag that was in the pot. ...

Re: Well looky here - at Judy Rocco
Here is Judy Rocco in flower today. After I looked at my first pictures, I noticed the style was odd but my photo was blurred. I went out for another set and found there were multiple styles but not fused like I have before - these look like separate strands twisted together. Early in the day. Judy ...

Re: I got a "red" flowered plant in this season
This plant finished flowering yesterday - the last two opened. I did store some pollen. I made a lot of crosses on to Hoosier Harmony because that was the most convenient white flower I had access to. Also picked up a Royal Wedding with a few flowers left - it got some pollen too. Crossed a few othe...

Re: Weedlings in the garden - are you saving some?
I have a bunch of similar ones down the slope from my rectifolia group. These have dark flowers with lots of stripes. One differentiated itself by having a flower that seemed an inch longer then the others in the group - hence the name BYW Longfellow. BYW Longfellow 0728180625c.jpg BYW Longfellow 07...

Re: Hosta of the Day - Otter Point aka #114
One of Art Wrede's unmarked plants has always looked similar to Otter Point but almost like a dull copy of it. Here are the flowers side by side. I did notice a "feature" on Otter Point from this photo - the bract has some color on the edge. maybe Otter Point 0831180648e side by side.jpg Otter Point...
