I got this Regal Splendor from Chris in May. Here is a photo from today - looking good after a dry summer.

Re: Success against Southern Blight
The instructions I read said to pour it from a watering thing (can't think of what it is called, watering can - the thing you water flowers with). I have not sprayed it. The last application, I tried to get it on the ground around the hosta more than on the hosta.

Success against Southern Blight
I have used Bayer Advanced All-In-One Rose and Flower Care to combat what I think is Southern Blight on two of my hostas and these hostas have stopped the deteriation associated with SB. So far, this is a very economical and successful defense for this problem. The label says that it is effective fo...

Re: Speaking of Halcyon, mine is sick
I used Bayer All in One Rose and Flower Control on it about a month ago. This has a fertilizer in it, but I think it is also a fungicide. Anyway, I cut off all the affected leaves and we'll see what it looks like next year.
Thanks for the replies.

Speaking of Halcyon, mine is sick
Just went out to water my hydrangeas and noticed one of my Halcyons with horrible leaf spots. Not sure what this is. I have removed all the leaves that have this and about half the hosta is gone. No petiole rot. I looked at the publication, Hosta Diseases and Pests and no one set of symptoms fit thi...

H. June
I know this topic has been discussed before, but this is my first year with June and I am seeing the color change for the first time... Very early this year - color is surprisingly bright. http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x67/jobranch/June040608-1.jpg Late May, yellow has faded some, but great sha...

Just looked at it in the Hosta Library, looks like a cool plant. Wonder how it would do down south?

Re: Sent down to the minors - part 1
JGH - DANG! If it was that simple, I would have done it already . My faucet on the left side of my house is between my garage doors, so I can't have two hoses running across my drive all the time. Really - it is just not that simple. But you made me think that maybe there is a easier way.

Re: Sent down to the minors - part 1
JGH - I have sent several down to the minors this year and agree with your thinking. With the Hallson order I just received, my mom asked me, "Where are you going to put all those?" My hosta beds are not getting bigger, I am removing a lot of multiples. I took out a wheelbarrow full the other day an...

H. Li'l Abner
Below is the bonus hosta that Chris sent with my recent order. I ordered Raspberry Sorbet, Yesterday's Memories and Beckoning. I like all of them, in particular Raspberry Sorbet, but the Li'l Abner was the best of all. Li'l Abner made this a memorable order. I had never noticed this hosta before, bu...

Re: It's official. 'Continental Divide' has been registered.
Very nice hosta and the changes in color in particular. I have tried to diversify my plant interests this year, but I have not found another plant as interesting as hosta. This is another example of why hostas are so much fun.

Re: My hostas are laying down!
Chris - I think you are right. I looked at one of the collapsed petioles and at the base, it has the look of the photos in a publication I have, called "Hosta Diseases and Pests" - do you know the one I am talking about? I am listing the link to it below. The photo at the bottom of page four is what...

Re: My hostas are laying down!
I know what you mean about a drought. Ours last year was one of the worst on record. This year is better and we get a shower every few weeks, but not enough. It has been in the mid to upper 90's over the last two weeks, but it was nice today (89 degrees) and will be 86 or so the next few days. It is...

My hostas are laying down!
It has been pretty dry here and I have had a hard time keeping up with watering. I have two hostas, Krossa Regal and Royal Standard that have several petioles and leaves that have started to yellow and are lying on the ground (both of these are upright hostas). They did this last year during the dro...

For me, Lakeside Dragonfly, Regal Splendor and Dragon Tails (my first mini hosta) all from Hallson. I also bought a Pee Dee Gold Flash for my mom that is pretty cool.

Re: Dark Green Halcyon
Chris - thanks for the reply. I have no idea what size the photo is (I just click the button on the camera and transfer it to my PC), and I know what you mean about it being larger than what is able to be displayed on my monitor because every photo I have posted here has been that way. I just don't ...
