Re: Eyes
Happy, happy, joy, joy!!! :D I love hearing that eyes are popping up. I went for a walk in the front yard today and was surprised to see several with eyes. I'll bet there are more but some are still covered with oak leaves. I'm not hurrying to clear them away because I know the resident rabbit is t...

Re: Potted Hostas
I have had mixed results overwintering in pots. I think a lot depends on the hosta. Some are just tougher than others. One year I left them on the driveway close to the garage. The ones that were shielded by the overhang survived. The ones that were not (someone moved them out a bit) died. The year...

Re: The last one is planted!
Good for you Linda! Even with those two you found, you're still doing great. It sounds like you are staying on top of things Chris. You'll be finished before you know it. As for those pleading the fifth, it's okay, we all understand. I can happily say that I only have six more hostas to plan...

Re: Green Eye on Dick Ward
Thanks Reldon. I didn't find anything about hosta hybridizers when I googled Dick Ward. Now that I know that Dick Ward is a hosta hybridizer, I typed that into my google search and I got results.

Re: Green Eye on Dick Ward
Thanks Chris. I thought it might be a named sport. I wonder what the story is behind the name. Is Dick Ward named for the baseball pitcher who played for the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals in 1934 and 1935 or someone else? Maybe the Green Carpet is the baseball diamond. Thanks Viktoria. I kno...

Green Eye on Dick Ward
I was out watering and noticed some solid green leaves on Dick Ward. It has one green eye, of course, towards the center. Is there a named green sport of Dick Ward?

I'm a bit late in posting as it's been a little busy here. Our vet called today with the results of Jasmine's urine culture. She has a severe urinary tract infection which is resistant to most antibiotics. She will have to be on one of the strong, expensive ones for a month to make sure the infecti...

Thanks for the study guide Marlys. Now, I might get a couple of answers right. I looked up halcyon and, to my surprise, I did not know what it meant.

I'm glad everyone had a good time. I love Marlys' answer for the obscure questions.
You better not sit next to me Kathleen. I'm horrible at these hosta quizzes.

I like all of them! My favorites are H. Pewter Platter and H. Pucker Up. I think a big part of it is the puckered leaves. I just love those puckers.

Re: Daylily seed pods
It just might work. It's the concept that winter sowing came from. Growing them in the jugs or containers just offers a bit more protection from the elements and the critters. Good luck. If it works, maybe the babies will be prettier than the mama.

Re: Daylily seed pods
Yes, Ginger, those are seed pods. Once they mature, they will dry and start to split open. I don't know if they will grow if you let them drop but I think it might be possible in your warmer zone. I have never had a seedling that was self sown in my zone 5. Maybe someone else has some advice about ...

Re: FFO (Techny Peace x Caledonia) x Spacecoast Starburst
Thanks John. I think it's pretty too. Yes, the camera does do strange things to the color. Mine seems to be doing it more often lately. It might be time for a new one. I think this was the morning when I ran out to take a pic because I heard the thunder and was afraid the bloom would get all beat u...
