Wide Brim ...post your pics
Perusing the master list of hostas that VioaAnn has created for our use, I was surprised that this hosta hasn't been discussed. I bought four of this hosta in 2007. All four have done well planted under limbed up spruce trees. They have gotten very little dappled light. The blemishes on WB in my pic...

Re: Pic of the Day--Royal Standard
I bought one Royal Standard in the late seventies. When it outgrew its spot, I divided it in two ( Picture #1). I've divided these two clumps many times, so that I now have 10 clumps each at least five feet in diameter and I've given many divisions away. It grows like a weed and is tough. One winter...

Thanks for the info, Ed. My computer's an iMac, so I don't have a right and left mouse. I did go to the informational thread though after I copied the URL using a keyboard command (command/C). I pasted the portion of the URL that you indicated: Lakeside Slick Chick-viewtopic?f=1&t+56682. However, wh...

I bought two LPP and planted them in two different locations. Only one survived the winter. Unfortunately, a bunny had a wee taste this spring. I really like the form of this little hosta, which I got last year. It survived the winter and this summer's pests really well. I'm going to have move some of those rocks to give it more room. Does anyone else have this hosta? I planted it in summer 2011. It gets very little light and has surprised me with its growth. It reminds me a bit of Lakeside Dragonfly. Does anyone have a good picture of LD to add for comparison? Source of Info: Fransen Hostas Originator: Chastain Description: Elon...

I really like this hosta. I planted it under a limbed up pine tree in 2011. It was fairing well in August and into fall despite the fact that some of my hostas had been assaulted by cutworms. I planted my LLG last summer. The slugs and earwigs like it in my garden but it faired better this past summer than it did in 2011, probably because I was more vigilant about pest control. I love its shiny habit and it reminds me of Candy Dish, which I bought in 2011 too. P5230006.jpg P5250003.jpg

I have the following Lakesides and like them all. I've listed the expected mature height and width. 1. Lakeside Alex Andra 16” h x 40 w 2. Lakeside Black Satin 22”x40” Slug prone in my garden but does have a dark green colour in shade. 3. Lakeside Contender 20” x40” 4. Lakeside Downsized 5”x16” 5. L...

Violann, I hope you give GR another chance, maybe move it to another location. Mine's done well in a shady location, northern exposure. A lot of my hostas were attacked by cutworms this past summer but GR still looks pretty good on July 12 whereas Touch of class to the right has lost some of its spr...

Finally found Aristocrat thread. Here's my Aristocrat's transition from May to June. Planted it in 2007. When I complained to Don Budd (local nursery owner and hostaholic) in 2008 that my A wasn't blue enough, he said I would have to wait for the wax coating to mature and thicken. P5220002.jpg P6180...

Re: Daily Hosta - Gentle Spirit
I was talked into buying GS by a nursery employee when choosing hostas for a new bed. This picture was taken a few weeks after I planted it. I'm hoping the planting scapes will look nicer next summer.
