I have a small pond and I live in NE Ohio. My pond has been in for 5 years now. It is about 100 gal and is the preformed kind. It has a waterfall with a small reservoir at the top. I have 10 goldfish (feeder, shubunkin and comet) and 2 koi. They get along well and have not damaged the plants. The ko...

Thank you. Loved the pix of Clemmies that you posted in June. They are just beautiful!! Off to trim the heads and battle the robin-sized mosquitoes that inhabit my back yard. LOL
Thanks again.

Clematis seed heads

If I remove the dead flower heads from my Clematis, would it encourage the vines to rebloom more vigorously? The varieties I have are supposed to rebloom but do so only sporadically.
Any thoughts?

Love the video. The babies are so cute. I can sympathize. I have 3 Chihuahuas and two cats. I am lucky in that the Chis run as a herd and tend to thunder in and out together. However one of the cats (known here as "Always on the Wrong Side of the Door AnnMarie") is in and out constantly!! And someti...

Thanks for your answers. The mix I use is specifically for containers and is on the pricey side. It does have a lot of peat in it as well as moisture holding crystals and Osmacote fertilizer. I always moisten it well prior to planting. I have just never had it behave this way before. Guess I will ha...

Potting Medium Problems

Every year, I empty the top half of my containers and replace the potting medium. This year, I am having problems with water retention. Two of my hanging baskets are retaining moisture to the point the plants are dying. These are baskets with cocoa mat liners and have good drainage. My large floor c...

Bananas Dog Treat Recipe

Hello Dusty! Thanks for the welcome. This is such a wonderful, friendly place to be. Here is the recipe for Banana Doggie Treats: 3 c. oatmeal 1 1/4 c. flour 2 eggs 1/4 c. oil 1/2 c. honey 1/2 c. milk 2 mashed bananas (the real ripe ones work well) Blend liquid ingredients with the eggs and mashed b...

Bananas

I have 3 Chihuahuas and they all LOVE bananas. They would eat them until they fell over if I let them. I also have a doggie treat recipe that uses bananas as one of the ingredients. They like those, too. The breeder did tell me no chocolate, grapes, or raisins. They will also eat windfall apples off...

Thank to you both for the advice and the warm welcome. After I replant my rescued August Moons, I will come back and explore this wonderful site more fully. I am so glad I found this place.

Hosta Virus X

Thanks for your quick reply. I am a long time hosta lover with some of my plants over 30 years old. I don't have a lot of expertise because they have always been beautiful and quite easy to care for. Some of the plants have come from old yards where the house was being torn down, others from friends...

Hosta Virus X

I just got done digging up and disposing of three 3 year old August Moon plants. Each of them had puckered leaves and leaves without puckers. I could not discern any variation in coloration, even holding the leaves up to the sun. I have looked at all the hosta plants in my yard and most of them have...
