Re: A 'Hacksaw' seedling

While I still have this seedling, it's a mere shadow of its former self, I'm trying to nurse it back to size. It's so small I haven't even bothered with another picture of it. Having said all that, there's another yellow 'Hacksaw' seedling from that year which I call 'Yella Fella'...it was divided l...

Re: Another 'Hacksaw' seedling...

A couple of years later it's still a choice seedling. As said the leaves have great substance to them and the leaves are nice and shiny. It had the same closed flowers last year, hopefully it'll bloom again this year and I'll have some extra pictures to add.

Some magical sight this morning....

A stroll around the yard this morning brought many delightful vignettes, in particular the dew and rain on some of the hosta leaves. What caught my eye first was the glistening dew on 'Dawns Early Light'.

Re: Please help identify infected Hostas!

The 2nd picture isn't terribly well-focused, neither is the 3rd one, so it's hard to pass comment. Having said that, I can see areas towards the back of the leaves in those shots that I would like to see in better focus and in closer view. I think I can see some lighter areas, that could be a sign o...

Re: ID, puhleaze....

Chris' comments prompted me to take a closer look, and sure enough... it's back for a refund  P1150113.JPG Must admit that when I took the first batch of pictures I was concerned over what I saw in one of them but shrugged it off at the time. Thanks again for the heads-up Chris with respect to...

Re: ID, puhleaze....

Chris, you're right, I AM vigilant about HVX. First thing I do whenever I see hostas at a local retail place is to first do a spot check and if something halfway suspicious shows on one plant I'll take a look at all the samples of that variety on display. Just last week I was at our neighbourhood bo...

ID, puhleaze....

So here we were, my wife and I, walking back to the car in the Costco parking lot past their seasonal plant area and I spotted an unfamiliar/unusual looking blue hosta. We dropped our purchases in the car and we went back in to investigate. What had caught my eye was tagged as being 'Halcyon' and as...

Don Rawson's Hosta Lists

Just a quick note that Don's Hosta Lists have been updated for 2017. There is a totally revised home page with the lists arranged by characteristics to hopefully make it easier to quickly find the list you're looking for. Enjoy them!

Re: Daily Hosta #1 - 'Ice Age Trail' - Add your pics

Finally after 10 years I divided my 'Ice Age Trail' last year when it showed a very nice, almost stable medio-variegated section. http://www.pwk.resteddoginn.ca/post/Resize%20of%20P1130452_iceagetrail.jpg As an aside, the above picture was taken April 28th last year, I doubt the plant will show that...

Nice growth. I'm looking at sowing some seeds these week myself, but I ain't got no heat mat, it'll just be room temp. What is it your looking to improve in the flowers: shape, color, intensity, size?

Carol has sent me the last of the new additions and those have now been added to the routine. We're now indeed well over 6500! Bill and Carol are continuing to work on adding another 800 or so pictures, thank you both for continuing what Bob Axmear started all those years ago, it's a resource being ...
