Re: Sent down to the minors - Part 2
I really need to do this, but I'll add it to my when I get around to it list! My problem includes stupid sentimental attachments to the very common hostas. There's an Undulata Albomarginata that I got at Lowes for 10 cents as a TLC plant. It was when I first started gardening so I was very pro...

Re: Wintering in pot...
I agree with Yardmom to take them out of the pot because of the root issue. I had some in an aztec pot for 2 years which I put in the unheated garage. They all lived fine, but the 2nd spring klutzy Freaky knocked the pot over & some spilled out & got all mixed up. What a mess! Luckily I had a map so...

Re: early dormancy?
I have quite a few that are turning brown already. I hate to admit it, but I think summer is nearing it's end.

Wow Pam, that was one tall weed! Did you use Miracle Grow on it? Mine kinda reminds me of that but the leaves are much broader and rounder, just like a sunflower. The bloom? is kinda like wires sticking up with balls all along the wire, kinda like a string of pearls, yeah, like stiff strings of pear...

Imposter weeds
I know this isn't a true hosta topic, but they are in my hosta bed, so that counts doesn't it? I have 3 weeds I'm wondering if you guys have seen before. One looks like a Sunflower, is already taller than me, but the top has tiny little balls instead of a flower bloom. Second is something that looks...

Wow, I'm impressed I didn't know Kent had so many hostas he's developed! Cool! Years ago Kent surprized me in the secret trade with a White Lightning which I loved. Unfortunately, it went to hosta heaven this year (can I have an AMEN?) poor poor baby! I saved a tiny piece which I'm hoping will grow ...

I haven't gotten near the computer since my son got a new girlfriend & they have a set time they talk to each other which is exactly when I want to get on line. So I didn't see you guys had started another trade till it was over. I was really bummed that I missed it. I came home yesterday & there on...

My yard must be in the Twilight Zone. For a long time Plantaginea was the widest and tallest hosta. Then Sagae claimed the title for a few years. Last year Rascal and Elegans got huge and were the biggest. This year Squash Casserole is pretty huge. But the biggest leaves belong to Lady Isobel Barnet...

Oh Jim, those cruising memories! And the car stories, wow, this is a cool thread! We cruised around the Dog N Suds, down the street a little to the Burger Chef, then way down the street to another drive in and back to the Dog. If we got way ambitious we'd drive all the way uptown, a whole mile or tw...

Jim, You should be a writer! I so enjoy your stories. I also loved the Beatles, but the album that stopped me in my tracks was Spirit's Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. Wow, I haven't thought of stuff like that for years. I'll have to go dig out my old music! Knowing my husband, he probably has all ...

Awwww Scott, You brightened my day! Thanks for your kind words & not getting po'd at my quirky sense of humor. As I sit here I'm waiting on the repair man to fix our AC which has been out for 5 days now. I don't mean to downplay your situation, but do you know how cranky people can get in 90 degrees...

Mooie, I used Bayer Disease Control for Roses, Shrubs (& trees?) Can't remember the exact name. It's in a blue bottle & really seemed to work. I also sprayed it on another bed I was having problems with that I didn't know what the problem was & this year the hostas there look great & all came up. I ...

I just spent 20 minutes typing what great hostas Linda P sent me & some how it didn't get on the forum. So I will try again! Thanks so much Linda! Jim writes I'm by nature a contrarian Jim--Contrary? NO! Well, maybe yes. See, we're so much alike Jim! :D I just figured out Squash Casserole is a fast grower. Oops, contrary to what I just thought, I guess it's not as fast as I thought. I was thinking Jamie sent me a little piece a couple years ag...
