Speaking of finches, and I wish I had a picture of it, but, while visiting extended care facilities to see my hospice patients, I noticed that most of the buildings had a cage of singing birds. The 'house' cat, who had free run of the buildings, would lay on top of the cage with either one or both f...

Cats with mats

This means matted, lumpy furballs. This cat is Rascal, who has been gone for several years. She was a small cat, around the age of 13-15. My son brought her to me after my 3rd marriage. He said Rascal belonged to his dad (whom I had been divorced from for over 20 years), and dad didn't take care of ...

I hear you about the snoring. As he gets older, he snores louder. And in addition to his own foam mattress, he has a small square pillow and lap throw I put over his mattress. Anything to keep him off the furniture. And it works. He is about 75#, and still really active. If someone drives down the r...

I have always done my own treatment of feline worms with OTC medicine. Since my cats were outdoor cats, I did a regular 3 month schedule.
Very pretty boy.

It sounds like Travis thinks you have abandoned him and he is clinging to the stability in his life - DH. Continue to schmooze over him and be really loving to Travis when he is alone with you, and ignore him when DH is there with him. He may decide that he wants your love again as much as being wit...

Corky the boxer

We got Corky as a 6 week old puppy and it has been love ever since. He is now 7, and very much the 'real person'. Before we got new living room furniture, he had the luxery of sleeping wherever he pleased. But 2 years ago, I wanted, and got new stuff, and didn't want him on it anymore. That was quit...

Ohhh, I knew there was a good reason I try to pass up this particular forum. Look guys, I don't have much room left for all the hosta's I think I should get. But I like this one, a lot. This is the year I try to really get to my gardens in the spring, do edging, weeding, mulching, etc. I have a hill...

Our Michigan snowfall of 16-20-some inches around and after Christmas/NewYears, is now completely gone. This morning when I got up it was 57 degrees and bare ground. We'll get more, but for now, I'm enjoying the balmy weather. At least it gave me a chance to take down the Christmas stuff outside wit...

"They" tried to tell me it was against the law to take their pictures without their permission. I am on the board of directors for our lake association and that is how I became involved. I researched it and found that only if pictures are illegal or immoral can they be not legal. Then much later, an...

Cardinal after the winter snow storm

Living next to the woods, I see many cardinals, and find the same satisfaction each and every time I see them. But the brilliant red sometimes is hard to capture, just like the red of some flowers. The stark contrast in the first pic is awesome. (I know awesome is an overused word, but I just can't ...

Check out my bird feeders in the pic above. It is a double set with hinges so the roofs open up and back to fill. The problem with this is--the squirrels--. As anyone who 'feeds' the squirrels knows, they can get into anywhere, and the lids which open easily, are a cinch. I find the little ground/re...

My neighbors used to raise a few domestic specialized turkeys for Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners. One year a wild one strolled into their pen to get a free meal, and the owner closed the door behind it. He decided to use it for Thanksgiving dinner,,,,,,what a mistake-he later told me. Since they a...

Even though this is a summer pic, its still good. I find that lots of my pics tend to be blurry, in my haste to get the shot before they fly away. Also, the picture window tends to get doggy nose prints on it and if I haven't gotten to it to wash it off,....

Even though I live in the country, and take a lot of nature pics, my neighbors put up a fuss if they see me with my camera. They say I am spying on them and taking their pictures. Go figure. Makes me wonder what they have to hide. However, it doesn't stop me from my nature photography. I do have onl...

If coffee grounds tend to be a deterent to cats per previous mentioned answer, would they also be a potential deterent to deer? No cats here, but deer, YES!, or maybe the deer, since they eat greenery, would like the odor of coffee?

After a deep snowy, beautiful Christmas and New Years, the sun has come out for chilling temperatures in Michigan(teens & below). The weatherman says that the warming trend coming will get us up to the 40-50's. That will take care of most of the snow. I can then use my deer repellant on the surround...

You may think it is too soon for another fur-friend, but, it is also excellent therapy. You'll love them, and they will help you through your loss and depression. You really need another pair of 'doggy ears' to listen to all your concerns and pain. Don't wait too long. CHAR

Nice pics, LG, and I love your little cutie. Those ears just say it all. Even though he probably wasn't too happy about the ride, since he was ordered to 'stay' there.
