Jurassic Park Seedling

Don't throw all the green ones away (Hostarod and his orange hat included). This Jurassic Park seedling which was started in late November is destined to be a monster.
Good size for a seedling from this year.

Serendipity Singer

H. 'Serendipity Singer' This one is one of the newer ones which is a sport of Serendipity (Blue Cadet * Tokudama) R. Goodenough 2004. It is a small with a yellow/gold center and green edge and looks like it is going to grow like crazy. The back leaves have some interesting stuff happening too. Hosta...

A Young Sun Power

With the heat and hot sun lately, one young plant loves it!

Pollen

I had just finished pollenating before going to work in the morning and accidentaly put a film cannister full of pollen in my pocket.

When I took it out during a mixed company meeting, the words out of my mouth to explain it were "Anyone need pollenated?".

Just for the record there were no takers.

Biggest Disappointment Hosta of the season

I think it would be fun to list the hosta that was the biggest disappointment this year. Lets stick to purchases made this season. The nice thing about this thread is that I would be shocked if any Hallson plants were mentioned. Mine all were huge successes in the gardens so far. Okay since it my th...

Foxfire Irish Moon

Foxfire Irish Moon is just in the latter stages of flowering here right now and has been a fabulous pollen parent but a rather dismal pod parent. Perhaps its the weather.

I agree that Bressingham Blue might fit the criteria best.

Seedling

Nice coloration and where you have it displayed really highlights the blue.
Nice Job!

Ignored Seedling

I guess if you tuck them away and ignore them in your gardens, your seedlings will try and attract you by being rather spectacular. Good sized leaf on a seedling started this winter. This is from Breeders Choice mix and originally had some nice corrugation (see lower right leaf). It will be nice if ...

How Old

This one was planted in late November.

Once it went outdoors it went dormant for a while and now is growing like crazy.
Most have done the same.

I have one Jurassic Park seedling that is growing leaps and bounds <S>.

The Media

The media can stop it. Imagine a number of articles in major newspapers on how widespread it is? Oh but wait, then a number of people thinking about hostas for their gardens will just select other plants to be safe. Tough to win something we all know is out there. How many dealers of hosta know they...

Favorite Yellow Seedling

Once I got this one away from the creatures that were comsuming it, it really is starting to look nice. The pod parent is suppose to be Swoosh but I did not grow the seeds so I can't say for sure. Perhaps DRuff could put a nice silver back on it and a little sheen on the leaves and it may move up to...

Breeders Choice O/P

This one has some frumpy leaves coming in and I sort of like it that way.
Tough to tell in the picture but they look a lot more like a Neat and Tidy leaf coming in then a Breeders Choice.

William Lachman Seedling O/P

I really like how this one is working out.
Sometimes you get some very nice streaked seedlings when the bees do it.
This year I am trying to outdo them at the game, we will see who is better.

Christmas Tree Gala Seedling settling down

The seedling which is a Christmas Tree Gala O/P is starting to show some nice leaf patterns and get out of its early streak phase.
Nice green with a broad yellowish margin, could end up being a nice one or change again next year.

conditions

I am not an expert but mine (I have 4) are growing very well in 40 - 50% sun. No burning and scapes are on there way.
The hosta directly behind them (Ruffed Up) takes a bit of a hit from that much sun but the Embroidery does not seem to mind it.
