Re: What are you working on in the garden these days?
Cleaned up the tornado mess, and bought a few trees and flowering shrubs to plant in the new sunny areas. Then two weeks ago I was helping a friend with some high limb pruning and slipped in his wet driveway (old shoes, no traction, UGH). Ended up over extending my left quad and am just getting off ...

Re: 5 quick questions of you
What a fun thread! :D Love hearing how everyone got hooked on hostas. 1. How did you get your start into the hosta world? -Went to a leaf show in 2005, bought 'Candy Dish', because I loved the ruffled edge. That was the begining of the end. 2. What features are you the most attracted to in a hosta? ...

Wow Chris, I had no idea you were having a drought!! Glad you've had some rain since you first posted. Wierd weather across the country is an understatement!! Tornados in NJ, drought in Oregon and Washington state? You're having a drought? Very odd. We've had more rain here over the past months than...

Wow, that is really beautiful Jim!
There was a line from the TV show, "The A-Team" that I loved. They would always say, "I love it when a plan comes together." Well, don't you simply love it when things come together without a plan?!

Re: A mass of mush
I truly appreciate everyone's kind words. We've met some nice folks through this incident. In stacking the wood at the side of the road people are stopping to take the logs. So glad it's all not going to waste! Went to the Tri-State hosta show here in NJ in early July (pic of the show, we had a lot ...

Re: A mass of mush
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the concern! Wow are you guys kind! I just wasn't sure if the plant was really mashed up and pounded into the ground whether it would survive. I'll report back if I see some rejuvination. And I want to say that the way we came through the storm was a miracle. There's on...

A mass of mush
We had a tornado come through our town this past Sunday. Talk about frightening. We hid in the basement. Rain, lightning, hail, wind, the trees all twisted, torn and knocked down everywhere. Besides losing trees in my own yard a part of the neighbor's 80' tulip tree ripped off and landed in my yard....

Re: Question about keeping streakers streaked
Well thank you all very much! I'll get the alcohol, a sharp knife and give it the old college try. It will make me feel a whole lot better, I don't want to see this turn all green.
Thanks again,
Thanks again,

Question about keeping streakers streaked
If green eyes appeared on a streaked plant I was told to simply snap them off, so I did, and it worked pretty well. However, this year one of the streakers (H. 'Xanadu Virginia Mary') seems to have a large amount of green eyes. So, do I dig it up, take a knife to it and really clean it up, or contin...

There's also a "Waning Moon"...but I guess that's just another name for a crescent moon, just sounds funnier if thinking about a chamber pot.
