Golden Waffles

Beautiful plant, Hank. It's in the lineage of a lot of Hostas.

Jim, 'Daughter of Ledi Lantis' was my donation. Where have you been? We've missed you.

Total

Lynn, I just copied the columns, popped them into a spreadsheet, and used the sum function on the dollar column.

'Sunpower'

I concur. It's a great variety. Mine, however, sets seed sparsely as Zilis notes. I have used the pollen successfully too.

Di-Syston

Hank, the problem is that Di-Syston in its 2% formulation has become unavailable in NY and OH. I'm not sure about PA. In a weaker 1% strength, I think it's still in the Bayer Rose product.

Hosta College demo flowering Hostas

I will be teaching Hosta Hybridizing 101 again this year at Hosta College (two sections this year), and will be in need of one or more Hostas in flower. Does anyone have a heated greenhouse that could force a few early flowering varieties, or know of anyone who could? Otherwise it's Easter Lilies ag...

BAP-10

I wonder why there hasn't been any research since 2000?

Is BAP-10 a dead issue?

BA

Jeff, I'm sorry, but this is old news. The late Ed Elslager taught courses at Hosta College for many years that had a lab portion to them. We took home plants to which we had applied BAP or something else, like water (control group), as a spray. We reported our results to him about 10 weeks later, i...

'King Tut'

Art, it's a great pollen parent. Doesn't set seed real well for me. Maybe one or two pods a year is all I get.

Registrations

I registered 'Lily Blue Eyes' (named for our granddaughter) early this year. I had previously posted pictures of it here.

It was a blue ribbon and section winner at First Look a few years ago. It is in tissue culture, and will be available commercially in 2-3 years.

Don Q

The only useful Don Q is the rum!

My Don Q Hosta never set seed, so I traded it away several years ago. Some people just like streakers.

Parentage of 'Bedazzled'

There seems to be some confusion here. The problem is that many variegated Hostas have streaked forms, either the original streaked form, or a tc sport. 'Little Wonder' is such a Hosta. I have a couple of them myself. It isn't very stable in the streaked form, however. You have to separate the margi...
